What did the circle line do for us? I didn't witness any improvement in relieving the crowd at peak hours. More people came in at Paya Lebar on my eastbound train than to alight to be honest. I guess at least I can get to Suntec straight and Bishan at a shorter travelling time. I will try that out!
Northeast line broke down today at morning rush hour! No free shuttle organised too, I really pity those staff having to deal with all the difficult fuming passengers! What a way to ruin their morning!

Pigs as kins
My poor mummy is suffering. Why do we have evil cousin and aunt??? Since grandma had a fall and has been discharged, my aunt made my mum commute daily to take care of grandma. It's okay to take care of her but it's not right to take it for granted and treat someone badly. I hope they accumulate their bad karma and their future generations 生儿子没屁眼!! I also wonder sometimes what sins we committed our past lives that my parents are retired but never could enjoy lives... Worrying about cash flow, worrying over other people's lives, worrying about illnesses and pain. And others can simply enjoy theirs, let their schooling kids get Blackberry Bold, send parents to A class ward in private hospital and then made everyone else who have no say to pay for it! She has also been verbally abusing her maid whose she blames for Grandma's fall. I hope she gets 天堑!! Like mother, like daughter. Her daughter is also a B!TCH, sorry but so true. Childish, rude with no respect for the elderly, especially when talking to my mum, aunties and grandma. Such evil people, let's hope they get their retribution when they're still alive! God, please give it to them... Please also let make my mum's life easier.

The night we met 色pekpek
I took 6 mins more to finish the easy Sudoku after 2 bottles of beer. Glad that my brain can still work...
We just had a get-together session with the girls and Anson who is back for holiday! It started off well till the people on the next table came to harass us for taking up their usual table. A group of middle-aged chinese men (with their wives) who called their wives "bitches". Beer, wings, tequila shot, mini burgers, fish and chips, potato wedges... It was all fun conversation till I talked to this guy and realised he knows people in my immediate team and big shots in my company! His friend came and got drinks for us as well as harassed us. He was definitely jealous of the attention Anson got from the us girls. I decided to leave the table to play darts with Syndy. He then followed and offered to teach us, I couldn't stand it when he tried to have his filthy hands all over us! The old ang moh who taught me the scoring of the game is way more decent than this pervert!! I played this before in Siem Reap hostel but have forgotten. I whispered to the old ang moh how annoying the pervert is and he winked to acknowledge. I won two games and decided to end it as pervert continued to bother us. Then I got Kelly to play with me again, the idiotic pervert returned to haunt us, now trying on Kelly. When it was my turn, I told him I played it umpteen times and doesn't need his help. It eventually pissed us off so much we decided to call it a day. Stupid pervert ruined my games... I wanted to join the other party to play but reckoned it was time to go home:( So here I am, writing this as my train arrived timely at destination!

天啊,这个世纪的男人为什么这样?
Lord, what happened to the men you made this century????
I try to breathe. I try not to think about it.
The men around me recently are freaking like women??? Well, I'm not saying they act exactly like women but where's their guts, principles and moral values - if they have any??? Okay, at least have a back bone.
Man 1: I'm still studying to be a lawyer, I'm poor. I'm looking for a sugar mummy to pay my expenses. I can pay her back when I'm a lawyer. (Can you ever assure you will be one, pathetic beggar?)
Man 2: I'm having financial woes. I split up with the ex-girlfriend, she costed me a bomb. I have to close my businesses now. I have no money so I need to work. Maybe you want to help me or join me do a business? (Com' on, get your life back!)
Man 3: I'm married and I flirt. I do not like to talk about my wife, perhaps I don't even have an active sexual life. So do you want to flirt with me? (Another jerk!)
Man 4: I'm looking for a girlfriend, but I don't know where to look. I go to pub with those singing hostesses... maybe one of them will fall in love with me one day? (Wake up, my friend!!)
Man 5: I have a girlfriend but we had a past. I still like you and I can still flirt with you, right? Who knows, maybe she's not the one and you are still a good back-up? (A**hole)
These five examples are just mere few of many I have encountered... and I can't say enough how much these people are beginning to annoy me!!

I better blog about this annoying women so I can quickly delete her 恶心 photo from my mobile and laptop! Quite amazing and not surprising (to be seen in Singapore), I have collated about 13 entries now... mostly about inconsiderate people that crossed my path.
I made this a small photo so all of you won't lose your appetite for food if you just happened to be reading... ;) Alternatively, you can click on it and scrutinize every inch of her face.
Okay, so the story goes... I was with my sister in this cabin one morning during the morning rush hour. This beefy inconsiderate woman came in with a male companion, they obviously were together but stood like 1 metre apart and having this annoying conversation. Hey woman, it's crowded and if you want to talk to your friend, move your FAT ASS to get closer. She just refused and wanted to stand against the cabin wall, while the friend is on the other side. The train got crowded with every station and people were squeezing in and standing in between, yet they still continued their conversation... which annoyed the hell outta me. I snapped her picture openly because I didn't care and wanted to expose her disgusting look to the world of internet.

I just learned my grandma's name the other evening. For almost my whole life, I address her "Ah ma" and only when she's hospitalised now I then realised I couldn't enquire about her room number without knowing her name. Mum briefly mentioned before but I didn't seem to remember. Grandma Poh had a fall and fractured her thigh bone. She had an operation and is much better now. But old people are such stubborn mules, haha. My grandma Poh refused to use her adult diaper even when she's unable to get out of the bed. When we troubled the nurse to get her sorted, then suddenly she couldn't do the deed anymore. Mischevious Poh!
I had a hair cut two days back and I swore my $10 cut is way better than the $26.90 at Twister and Storm. No hard-selling, attentive service and so affordable! They don't do washing or blowing for $10 but you can pay a little more to include them. Yet I get a very satisfying experience and I will go back again! Thanks to my best friend for passing me the contact.
Friday evening, I noticed this old lady behind me slowly pushing her grocery trolley. As I went ahead to open the mailbox, I saw her digging the bin and picking up sheets of paper from the ground. What most of us regarded as rubbish, she was collecting them. I then passed her the useless pamphlets and also the magazine supplement I got earlier. She seemed pleased, thanked me and walked away, probably to the next building for more...

Food Tasting III

We were at this place named Italiannies situated at Triple One Somerset (also known as PUB Building). There were 6 of us. Service started off slow but the efficiency quickly stepped up. Before we made the order, we were served slices of bread with olive oil & vinegar. Then we were given a pile of papers, again, a limited menu. We have to order one from each sheet of paper, all 6 of us had to have different beverages, ranging from hot tea to coke to passion fruit cooler. We were to share a starter and 3 main courses, the portions were fairly large so it fed us all very well.
I had the passion fruit cooler, I didn't enjoy it because it was full of ice and I finished it very quickly because there was not much "water"!!!!! The starter was stuffed mushrooms (with mixed beef meatballs), very well made. The cream cheese sauce on the bottom is a must to go with them, else they do taste a bit salty themselves.
We were made to order a pizza from the two choices given. Both had pepperoni, but this one we chose had a few other meats on it. It was quite oily and I am not a big fan of pepperoni as the smell of beef is overly strong! We didn't manage to finish it either as some of us do not take beef as well.
We had a course of pasta, it was cooked salmon in creamy sauce with linguine and it's the best out of the 3 main courses. It's light, creamy, a little salty but it has blended very well with the salmon and we just wiped out the whole plate :)
The last course was roasted chicken with roast potatoes, one of us commented it tasted like chinese herbal chicken. There were lots of chillies and spices. The meat was tender and well cooked, however the spices were a bit too overwhelming. It didn't seem very italian to us but I guess the other option, grilled chicken, might have been a better choice.
The prices aren't cheap, but I have to admit the quality is there and can be improved! Portion is big and they are meant for sharing, possibly can't lunch alone! I wish they will have lunch promotion and bundled with some good wine to go with the food! The service was also very attentive throughout the lunch. Thanks Italiannies!

Food Tasting II
Marché restaurant had closed down in The Heeren and Suntec City, surprisingly it opened a new branch at 313 Somerset. Cheryl, my work buddy, happened to receive the invites, and so here we go again :) It was 8 December 2009, a group of about 10 of us went... woohoo!
Here's the icon of Marché, the green cow. You can never go wrong! And this Marché Bakery is new, I have also tried the bread on another occasion, it's delicious especially when you get them freshly out of the oven. Warm, soft and makes you want more! They are a bit pricey but you can probably get them freshly baked if you're lucky! The entrance to the Marché restaurant is actually through this bakery, there you walk down the stairs to that secretive underground restaurant.

We were given a card each to be swiped for food purchases (like how you usually do so when you go to a Marché restaurant). The decor is nice as usual, we sat at the corner with round wooden tables and stools. Then the most important thing to do is to RESERVE your table and go QUEUE for food. It was open to SingTel staff by invitation that day, and was quite crowded. We had to queue for a long time, especially for that rosti!!!!
Service was slow too as all the staffs were still undergoing training. The food quality wasn't consistent as well, as we did order a few repeated things. I queued up for the rosti and unfortunately the staff wasn't very organised, she ended up forgetting whose cards had been swiped and whose not... It was okay since it was free that day anyway but it just didn't help her in the job. Her supervisor who was coaching her seemed a little impatient... Fortunately, I still managed to have my rosti with sausage after that LONG waiting time.
The advantage of going in a group of 10 is that all of us went to queue for different items and we shared all of them. We got to try most things. Pizza was so-so, some flavours were nicer than the others. I enjoyed the mushroom soup, a good standard. Rosti with sausage was usual, nothing too fanciful but still a hot favourite for most. Salmon was alright, so are the pasta. The crepes were pretty good too but not consistent with their making; the Mövenpick ice-cream was so addictive we had quite a few rounds, they weren't consistent with the scoop size as well. I love their Passion Fruit & Mango (sorbet) as well as Maple Walnut! The mint flavour was also very refreshing. I had a bottle of ginger beer too but this can be easily found in the supermarket. We also took all the cakes, one of each! LOL. There were about 6 of them, I wasn't too impressed with them as there are much better cafes out there serving cakes. I have forgotten the rest of the things we ate... but these are the ones I can recall :P
In conclusion, the people in my group thought that the quality was average and inconsistent, but since it was free, there was nothing to make a big fuss about. Marché's prices aren't exactly cheap, so if they are much better now after the training, it will be worth to go for some rosti and ice-cream ;)

Food Tasting I
I owe you guys food reviews!
Sorry for the delay, but finally I am getting it all together and posting them up now :) Since I started work at this job, I have been invited to 3 restaurants' soft launches. Thanks to the location and the new malls sprouting out too quickly... and the very fast turnover of businesses in that area - especially The Heeren.
And so, here goes the first one. T.G.I.Fridays Restaurant & Bar (note: website belongs to the original one from USA) located at The Heeren which I visited in December 2009.

Nice name, I say. Good concept for Friday chill-out! I made a booking but was then re-scheduled due to their renovation being delayed. So yea, table for 2 please.
We arrived on time, but was asked to wait for a table (yes, they were training in progress) even though there were empty tables around. We were then issued "monopoly money" to pay for our bill later on. We were given the ground floor table, ambience wasn't too bad... and the slow service began. Well, we understood, it was training in progress.
We were presented with a limited menu where we had to pick one from each page. I ordered the Pineapple Sunshine, a mocktail which was alright. Then came the soup, which really impressed me with that "cheesy" look. God, it tasted just as damned good as it looked... I swear it's the best thing from this dinner. S.E.R.I.O.U.S.L.Y Y.U.M.M.Y. I will gladly return anytime for this soup if they are maintaining this standard ;)
The main courses arrived after some waiting time... It looked alright. My JD Burger definitely looked better than that Friday's Shrimp which was much pricier from what I remembered. The shrimps were tiny and didn't look like it filled up the plate nicely for an approximately S$30 dish. The burger was better, good size and I didn't manage to finish it all. I say Botak Jones will surpass this with their size and pricing. That was the end of our 3 course meal actually, before my friend decided to ask the manager one question - Why our neighbours were served ice-cream and we were not? LOL.
Guess what? The manager politely explained that it was only meant for table of 4 but he was kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert. What excellent service for the soft launch! It certainly added extra point for their service (despite it being slow). Brownie with ice-cream that is, sinful and loaded with sugar! We didn't manage to finish this, feeling quite guilty since it was a complimentary add-on!
We paid the bill with the "money" and were even given a receipt. So real. Good training environment! Thanks TGIF for the dinner. If they would lower their price and improve their main course quality or do up set meal promotion, I will probably go back again! Else I think the tabs are too high for the quality.

Shop guilt-freely
Buy the girl a gift, do charity at the same time and save the earth too.
Woah! Is there such a thing? Yes!
I came across this stall a weekend or two back. I was happily strolling along Singapore River like a tourist, snapping pictures. There was this flea market (over the weekend), many of them selling clothes, bags and fanciful stuff. Walking, walking... I laid my eyes on this stall. Something I have always been eyeing on, but long forgotten (thrown back in my head) but now again reminded when I saw them. Bags made out of recycled rice bags. I saw them on the TV once, someone was making and selling them but unfortunately I didn't manage to get in touch. But I kept a few bags myself (yes, from the 10kg rice) and was thinking one day I will make some myself. Hahaha.
But... they don't come cheap. The people tending this stall are actually volunteers who give up their own time to sell these handmade bags from Cambodia. They are made from rice bags or fish feed bags that came from Vietnam. All of them are handmade, ironed and made with great quality assurance. I am impressed, and I just simply couldn't resist. I wanted one and I still want to own one, I'll probably not sew one as nice! It's nicely covered in transparent plastic and so is waterproof... and I am confident of its durability if it can hold up to 40kg of fish feed. They are called Bloom Bags, the funds from the purchase go direct to the disadvantaged Cambodians who are behind these bags... and it has been helping them to lead better lives. Why not? ;) And they are environmental friendly!

I have gotten compliments for the bag when I bring it out and it also attracts curious stares. The one I got is a similar one to the orange one in the picture but it's white and has blue waves and 2 fishes... love it!

Frolick vs Yami

As long as Frolick doesn't invent peach flavour and Yami's peach flavour still remains as good, I still love both of them!! Healthy healthy dessert!
p.s: Frolick has a pretty entertaining website, do check it out from the above link.

Like mother, like daughters. LOL. We brought mum to Isetan sale where she found herself 2 pairs of shoes and a bag. I embarrassed myself at the cashier realising I left my wallet at home! So concidence that I read my friend's status about her forgetting hers and now it's my turn. Fortunately, I have my sister to the rescue ;) Forgetting the wallet is such an inconvenience...
The sky has been gloomy the whole day. Rain never poured, only a slight drizzle. I hate doing hand laundry but it's a long weekend and I better do so to free up my Sunday! It's IKEA breakfast with the usual peeps tomorrow, we are so going to gobble down those scrambled eggs and croissant! I cooked myself yummy scrambled eggs for a few weekends. I want served breakfast. I had Burger King breakfast with Eileen last weekend for a catching up session, it was so pricey - S$6.60 for a meal.
My mate bought a new toy too - a white 2 door car, I'm very honoured to be one of the first few passengers since he only has it for 2 weeks. I knew it when he asked me out for supper, he's going to show me his new baby. Haha... Nice, I wish I get more supper rides ;)

My new toy :P
I bought my 3rd digital camera today!!! It's a little sudden but I have the intention anyway, supposedly to purchase at the next IT fair before my Taiwan trip. But it just happened.
Mummy dearest is not very pleased with me buying a camera. She said I have gotten one in Hong Kong last year, but that's a lomo camera (using 35mm film). She doesn't see the difference, to her, a camera IS a camera. I reckon she needs some retail therapy too, so she won't be too upset that I have spent my money on something :p Mummy, let's go shopping then.
My first digital camera was 3MP Canon Powershot that lasted me 5 good years before the repeated batteries I bought died on me and the buttons became faulty. It costed me S$780 on the camera alone!!! But I believed I spent near S$900 to add on those accessories, etc. I must be insane, but those were the days gadgets were so costly because technology was still very new!
My second camera was 6MP Fujifilm Fd31 which produced excellent colored photos till it became sick on the last day of its 1st year warranty. Since then it broke down on me twice during my holidays despite the repair. I was very affected by it, it never really gives me any sense of security anymore. It worked well in Hong Kong but I am still very hesitant about bringing it to Taiwan for 2 weeks! What if it breaks down again, I am so going to cry :( It costed me S$480 but was a very worthy buy as it included all the accessories with extra memory card as well as battery! That's about half the price of the first camera. It also features manual control and will work as a good back up still for now :)
So my latest toy is a 12MP Panasonic Lumix DMC FP8, not something I will usually look at. I wondered if I'd regret this impulse purchase as I usually do tonnes of research before going to a shop. Today I just happened to come across this COURTS sale at the Expo, sister was the one buying her virgin camera. I was giving her advice, and I ended up getting one too! Well but after testing the camera and was given a good price, I just gave in to it :( The camera was even up for bidding, only 10 sets at a further S$20 discount. It was almost ending when I put my hand up - can't believe I did that! But now yes, this pocket camera is mine at barely S$280. After reading the reviews, I am quite glad I did, because it's sounds like a perfect fit for my upcoming trip! Can you imagine how big the price difference is for a camera at 12MP and one at 3MP years ago... gosh.
I had promised myself I would not spend over S$500 on the next camera since Fujifilm died on me after only a year. I have also been wanting a Panasonic Lumix, and now I have chosen this above all the others I have been eyeing on including: GF1, LX3 and even FX37. I just didn't want to pay so much more for a toy I carry around for a couple of years, besides a lot of the times, what you need is a good photographer ;) My sister bought herself a Nikon Coolpix S620 at half its original price too - was such a bargain!!
I know, I know, I should stop... but yes, I promise no more major purchase till Taiwan!
