Here's the namelist to thank the important people< in my life, people whom have made my bad day a better one... or once shared good time with me... Like the Star Awards, now I'm going to express my appreciation to the following peeps: (please note: there is no order based on favouritism)
1. Members of Fab 4 (now Fab 5), namely Syndy, Angela, Joy (and Adeline) for being there ALL THE TIME. Well, most of the time actually, especially when I most needed help, when I was most depressed and vulnerable. I can't say enough THANK YOU for making my life a special one with your existence. All the secrets sharing, gossiping, partying (Syndy), days in London (Angela), listening to my troubles (Joy)... I look forward to the next reunion with an older wiser prettier "each of us"!! We girls rock!
2. My family, namely, my mum, dad and my 2 precious sisters. I know you care even when you don't say it, and I know you're there even when I'm thousands of miles away. I LOVE U even when I can't spell it through my lips, and you know that.
3. Alex, the one and only online friend whom is my real friend. No matter how much we argue and debate, you're always there to listen, to advise, to cheer me up and to make me think you're always right (mmmm, but I know sometimes I'm right!!). Watching Brokeback (what a bad choice I made), cooking a "chinese" dinner (when I'm the chinese one, haha) and sharing the "Coupling" DVD to make me laugh away my sadness! Even it was only one night's company, it meant a lot, thank you my friend for being there and being my travel partner - hope more trips to come next!
4. The Rabbit, the once-so-good-ex-boyfriend. Thanks for leaving, thanks for letting me go, thanks for the wonderful months we been together and once being so close to me. You made my days in Europe much more special, my stay in London much more brighter. You made me stronger than before and now an optimistic little potato!
5. Glyn, the crazy man whom brought me on my first visit to a British farm. You brought snowflakes into my life, each time we met, it snowed. And I used to believe you brought me happiness (along with the snow). You did, for the mere 2 days we spent in England, thank you so much (even if you're not reading)!
6. Wensiong, the papa whom always remember my special date (birthday). Thank you for being a very fun papa whom would dig $2 coins with me from the "stupid" toy machines, who is as into travels/backpacking as me, who always gets more and more mamas for me & Angela. I'm glad someone shared the same thoughts after those travels, life isn't that hard, we just need to be happy, isn't it?
7. The S.T.O.M.P team & ex-SPH colleagues, namely Clare, Jeffrey, Waisum, Mas, Peter... whom we shared a wonderful bond during the initial phase of the project, and the others for being my night shift dinner kakis. Clare, kudos for always jio-ing me to the drinking sessions! I had so much fun at Oktoberfest and was so glad I found you guys as my party companions!
8. Huiwen, my ex-W.S.G mate. It is funny we never worked together but one casual conversation led to this friendship. Always so entertaining, open and witty, I hope we are going to catch up soon once you SQUEEZE out some time from your busy work schedule.
9. Nellie, the London 'granny' whom put me up for a week. A train journey up to York, by chance or by fate, has brought you into my life and helped me in many ways. But fate has been playing a trick or two, we didn't manage to catch up the first time you were here, I hope I can take you out to a nice dinner soon.
10. Old friends, namely Danny, Lezann, Xiuling and Eileen (and the old PRSS boys whom have finished their uni/NS). I'm glad to have found some of you back again, and it never felt like strangers when we meet again (amazing huh). More gossips and more life stories to share...
11. Riyaad, my first S.A friend in London whom had left back home much earlier than me, though we started our working holiday the same year. You never failed to make me laugh, you're a great company to have really (if you visit, I promise to be your tour guide). Remember the movie under the stars with me and Angela, we were so cold we had to hug together!
12. Richard & family & ex-colleagues from E.M.I, especially Colin, Sanjay... I remember those muffins at tea-break, and Colin, you always buy me one! Chocolate-banana! And sometimes I remember to buy you back when you're away for meetings. Also, the little boys at Richard's, every time I see them, they are growing... and I'm getting older! Oh no!
13. Ex-housemates in London, namely Angela, Priska, Jessie, Franci, Shiva (the kitty)... I miss the nights watching DVD/TV on bed, drinking wine & chatting in kitchen and cooking together, or even going out for festival!
14. Dragonboat team, like Vanessa, Vicky... whom has since brought a lot of fun and beer into my lifestyle, gossshhh. A happy bunch of people, and I'm happy to hang out with.
15. Dirty, my long time icq friend. Thanks for being so dirty... hahaha, I mean for sharing and listening to old boring Rabbit stories, but now yeah, we have more others to share.
16. Shengliang, my Taiwanese friend from German class in BS, Germany. The good old times when you invited me over to dine with your chinese friends, where we practised german over msn, and sneaking over during class break to chat. I also miss the cute pink-cheeks mongolian Baorui and the other chinese guy from mainland (forgot his name!).
17. Anson, Qiqi, Kelly... whom are Syndy's friends and now also sorta mine. LOL. Thank you Anson for hosting in Italy, and the girls for the all time "shake-ass" clubbing.
18. Tommy!!! Oh geezzz, how can I forget about you?? My precious cutie whom sleeps with me (almost) every night for over 2 years... that's how old he is. My sweet little love. I love you to death, especially smelling your nose.
That's about it, not too sure if I missed out anyone. But hey, you know you're my friend and that always means something to me, that's enough!!
Du grosses Gestirn! Was wäre dein Glück, wenn du nicht Die hättest, welchen du leuchtest! Oh great star! What would be your happiness if you had not those for whom you shine for? ― Friedrich Nietzsche

Aaaayooo, stop it lahh!
As the rainfall reaches a record high, as has my spending. $90 dollars yesterday. $70 the day before. At this rate of spending, my salary is not AT ALL ENOUGH to cover my expenses. For an usually non-shopaholic like myself, this is far too much. Excluding digital gadgets (like digital camera/laptop/mobile phone), this month has been extremely unhealthy to my pocket. I swear, in these 2-3 years, this month has ranked the highest for spending on shopping. And hey, I didn't shop on impulse, nor under stress...
It must be the Christmas and then now its post Christmas sale. Actually 50% was spent on necessary and inevitable stuff* (not material wise), the rest of 50% is a bit of a self-indulgence I must admit. I finally make that long awaited plastic-framed spectacles at a very reasonable price and it's in glorious pink tones - can't wait to collect it! I just returned from lunch with my sister where I brought her to help her increase her spending, lol... Anyway, kidding, she needs a new glasses so she made a funky blue one too.
Maybe let's see what else I bought this month (excluding X'mas presents):
1. Rose velvet bag *love love this one*
2. Camisole x 2
3. Funky pink hairband
4. Alleby snake + photoframe (IKEA)
5. Retro flower-prints dress
6. Baby-doll peach dress *too sweet, I like*
7. Red umbrella
8. Window streamers + massage stick (actually for mum, hah, but I'm using too)
9. Pink spectacles
10. Navy blue cropped pants
11. Glittery necklace x 2
12. Undies x 3
Actually, it isn't a lot, right? Compared to other girls whom buy 2 bags, 3 pairs of shoes and numerous blouses... ermmm.. ehem. I have spent about 40% of my next pay, it's my first pay for this job but it still hasn't come in yet. I'm spending future money, arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. There is a private Sale at Isetan tonight, sigh, got invited by a friend to join... which is a great opportunity to find the pair of shoes I need (must CONTROL - no more unnecessary shopping)!!! How can a girl live without a pair of black heels huh, anyway I really need one pair for work. Dinner appointment tomorrow, more spending...
Mobile phone has to be on hold, no $0 Samsung Ultra 8.4 for me as I don't want a 2 years contract!
*includes transport, food (lunching, grocery & snacks), household/office/personal care necessities, entertainment, medical fees
p.s: My hair grows at an amazing rate, about an inch per month! Since my haircut a few months back, it has grown another 2 inches.

A trigger, again, on the 26th December
2 years ago, tsunami was here (well nearby).
Singapore is flooding... but not due to the earthquake or its triggered tsunami (heard it might trigger one towards east of Philippines), but it all credits to the heavy December rainfall.
The 7.1-magnitude earthquake has brought about a disruption to our internet and telecommunication services in East Asia. IN SINGAPORE TOO!!! I was trying to do some internet research yesterday morning, I couldn't log on my MSN, not even say yahoo or google. Just as I was about to seek help from IT helpdesk (which I bet many did), a colleague came over and told me the culprit was yesterday's earthquake at Taiwan. Little did I know that these cables are actually planted underwaters. Now it's back and running, but still lagging slightly.

No perfect work, no perfect people
That's what I'm learning to cope with everyday...
After a good planning and approval, the plan suddenly changed again. Someone else decided to scrap off the initial idea and get a pool table/all-in-one table which will already take up 80% of the budget. So I went with it, boss has the final say ma. Then this afternoon, they decided to go back with me and GD's idea because their new one doesn't work out. It's very time consuming firstly, second it's very frustrating! I think I want to leave that job to just that person who has the say and money to buy everything... I can plan and say I want this and that. But later on it might become that and this lor. Sianz.
Anyway, I better spend my time on proper work than fiddling around with that indecisiveness which doesn't lie with me. We agreed on the bean bags, and now they say because it's going to be an online transaction/purchase, there's going to be this and that problem. Arghhh, don't buy don't buy lah... It's really getting on my nerves, why can't they be more decisive like me - this time round! Today a co-worker of mine drove to the showroom to see the 'soccer table', oh geezz, her driving is bad. Real bad lor, I feel like I'm sitting in the bumper car.
It's been raining like hell lor... really like hell. Clothes can't dry in time! Shoes soaked (and thus wreck easily, possibility of shoe-wrecking increases tremendously)! My umbrella just met its end yesterday after sheltering me for the past couple of years including my travels, thank you. Yesterday I bought a new replacement, a red one!
I'm really broke this month but my spending isn't going to stop... I need a pair of shoes. I need a dinner with my girl-mates. I am thinking of a new samsung phone that can allow me to MMS and write in CHINESE!! Samsung Ultra Editions are really my kinda thing, geez... but which one, can I buy, should I wait?? My pay hasn't come...
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaa

There is no boxing day in Singapore :(

After a super slacking long weekend... which was accompanied by frequent rain, the working week is about to start again. Lucky for those whose companies have declared the whole week off (especially if it's not using your paid leave)! Christmas is very quiet, just with close friends and family plus lots of generous but "repeated annually" movies from Channel 5. How kind! Though the "ELF" was quite a funny one, looking forward to "Mr Deeds" tonight. "Love Actually" was actually a good one but I have seen it couple of times. Christmas eve was rainy as usual, I didn't go with the initial plan (partying @ Zouk). After 2 Christmas parties this fortnight, I have bought myself a mini bottle of red wine (Porta's Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 from Rapel Valley Chile) to countdown to X'mas! My sister took like a 10ml from me, while I finished the rest of 177.5ml with chocolate and gingerbread man. It wasn't a lot but it made me red enough like a roasted pigeon, my sisters were mocking at my pink head... Hope you guys have a good one too. Care to share?

店小二
There is this chinese eating place in Marina Square that is forever crowded and plagued with long queues. A few times, the Fab 3 or Fab 4 didn't get to dine there. But now I finally got a chance, and it was with Adeline (Fab 5's latest member) for our X'mas exchange-cum-dinner. Okay, it's called 店小二 。It actually means hotel page boy, boy servant.
We also didn't understand why it always has a long Q, and the average waiting time could be around 30 minutes to an hour. On Thursday night, me and Adeline went around and realised there actually wasn't a Q since it was slightly past 630pm (not the busy dinner time yet). So we went in and treated ourselves a sumptuous 5 course dinner. Here's what we had...

It was surprisingly very good! I love that crispy tofu and the crispy roasted duck skin. Sigh, have to watch my waist getting from 25" to 26" now, boohoo, it must be the beer-drinking-party as well! The price is reasonable for 5 course with longan-sea-coconut-dipped-in-Sprite dessert (not in the picture), it costs about $25 per person. It includes the cost of that bowl of peanuts - top right corner (which is already on your table), free flow of chinese tea and towels of course.

Creative juice flowing~
For the whole day in the office, I'm Santa Claus's assistant - the gift wrapper... I have wrapped about 40-50 gifts in a few hours excluding 14 kids' goodies bags, pretty amazed by my speed. Haha..
Yesterday, the SD (senior director) asked me to help out with the re-decoration of our lounge/chill-out area along with his PA and our temp. graphic designer (GD). For once, I am an interior designer, so fun... We have got 1000S$ budget to get some stuff. Me and the GD have decided to get a soccer table, bean bags, rug, hi-fi, coffee-table and a couple of board games to do up the area. So next week, it's going to be a fun shopping week and interior designer@work.

I actually love what I am doing!
Without much expectations for the new job, I am actually enjoying myself to the fullest now... Even though everyday is a busy day, it's always a good one. So far they all have been all good!
After so much planning and coordinating the last few days, I feel accomplished when the event went smoothly this afternoon. A Japanese man actually came up to me, shook my hand and thanked me for organizing it. Japanese - so polite! At the end, I got another man giving me his card and saying thank-you. I feel so appreciated. Even it was such a high profile event, everyone else was so amiable, at least a few. With so much left over food, I brought home a box of cheese cakes (which is my lil sister's favourite I bet) and well kinda mine too, hehe.
My new work laptop is up and running - yeah finally. Wireless and more RAM.
My lunches with my team mates or the bosses have always been very engaging. I love intelligent conversations, and so far they have always talked about something new. About big bosses in some companies, some high profile parties, feng shui, economy (Dubai), marriage and men (haha), blah blah... I think I'm beginning to find the crowd I really enjoy being with.

::: I was going to Spain :::
Definitely, in my dream. What a beautiful dream!! I didn't want to come back to reality, I was reluctant to be awakened. I was supposed to go to SPAIN, but everything changed the moment I opened my eyes. My dream crashed... vanished into the thin air... shattered into pieces. My brain has been overworking recently, I have dreamt too much. Likewise, it has rained too much. Fortunately today, it finally spared my shoes from swimming in those flooding pavement. My poor new shoes, it pains my heart...
In my wonderful sleep last night... I received an email from my former employer in London, he said he'd be sending me to Spain for a project. Although the work is not really my forte, I'd love to take up that opportunity. I agreed... I wanted to go along. It was for 18 months, a year and a half. Just as I was so overwhelmed, delighted, thrilled... this bubble burst. "RRRRRRRRRinggggggggggg...." My damned alarm! SPAINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN, please come back!!!!!
This morning, I remember a friend of mine just returned from Spain with her family. Is that the reason why I dreamt of Spain??? Or is it because in the recent conversations with friends, someone was going to visit or had came back not long ago? Anyhow, my friend showed me her lovely pictures, I was almost green with envy.

She has the most wonderful tapas, pintxos (or pinchos) and paella, plus wine to go with it. All the high-class dining. My Spain holiday was a poor backpacking trip accompanied with "bad company"... what a torture it was! Yet when I was browsing through her photos, I suddenly felt better about that holiday I had there. I could recall so much of it, even though it was a "sad time"... Now I can smile. Anyway, good job babe... you took AMAZING pictures, I mean it. PRETTY PRETTY.
Will it be my turn next? Will my dream come true, please....

One more Xmas party to come...
My flu miraculously recovered last Friday when I was so ecstatic about the Xmas Party (German Dragon Singapore) that following night. Good mood does make things go easier!
A little about the party. Not too much, in case you doze off while reading... There were about 50 people, free flow of beer, nice buffet of sausages, sauerkraut, mashed potato, spicy wings, bread with cheese and meat selection, salad and soup... probably more if I missed out some. Lot of naughty snow-spraying which turned most of us into 'snowman' and 'snowwoman'. Luckily, I got myself a bottle too, so I could play revenge and be a little devil! Hehe. My nice red boots was hurting my feet, even though there wasn't any dancing but wearing it for hours... ouch... I felt my feet swollen when I got home and so Saturday was for resting.
I wanted to post up a collage of the party pictures but I have emailed majority along with the season greeting. So I'm going save some space here, since I'm not given a lot here. So enjoy the picture for those whom have gotten my message.
Something made me bright and chirpy today. A work email addressing me as Trixy XX-San (where XX is my surname, lol)... I found it quite amusing and cute. Sometimes I love the way the Japanese works - I mean language-wise. Other than that, it's slightly past mid December, I have spent far too much (about $500) for this month. I still have 3 more weeks before I get my paycheck.

heute bin ich eine Schlafmütze
I am a sleepyhead today (as the above German title).
My nose seems to be nowhere near recovery. I finished my last 4 Clarinase pills, now I'm starting on Lemsip. Perhaps after all the vitamin C intake (boiled orange and 9 mini oranges), it has delayed the deterioration. But I'm still sneezing and sticking tissues up my nostrils. Sometimes I feel the dryness and soreness within, my poor nose.
I have to get better!! Tomorrow is the 1st out of the 2 Christmas Parties (so far) I'm going and I want to have fun. I'm going to dress nice, enjoy the food and beer, and laughed my silly head off after a tiring week (which seems to be moving fast, so that's good!). I am glad I do like what I am doing now - learning new things, being put in charge of big tasks and doing a variety (remember, I hate bores and routine!).
My intranet is down, so here I am... trying to write some "have and don't have" (please translate in Hokkien to get the meaning). That literally means "crap" or "nonsense" or in fact just meaningless stuff.
The office cleaner auntie
A head of white hair, bespectacled, witch-look-alike, and appearing very hostile on the first sight... actually she is one friendly soul. After a few mornings of clearing my bin when I'd always make a point to say "thank you" (in mandarin) , she seems to be the only one so far ever I heard replying with a "welcome" (in mandarin). It is true, how many of us reply with that after someone said a "thank you"... I'm the kind whom normally returns with a smile or a nod. Today, she greeted me,"Morning." I acted a bit retarded, but later on caught up when she asked if I had my breakfast. I'm still so sleepy.. sleepy.. sleepy, maybe due to the Lemsip I drank last night. Funnily, Clarinase didn't seem to make me drowsy. I just made myself a cappuccino, however... coffee doesn't work on me.
p/s: Seems like I've fixed the table (just need to set the width so it doesn't go outta the page)!

Day 4 @ work
I'm running low on tissue papers, that explains about my nose, doesn't it? So I went to replenish my stock, but nothing good happened whenever I stepped into Carrefour. It only means "a hole in the pocket" even if its a tiny hole.
Just after lunch and a proof-reading task in the morning, I was welcomed back by this thunderous snoring. Someone is SLEEPING in the office, maybe it's his lunch hour. But it's distracting. My lunch mission which was to get to Millenium Walk to look at spectacle frames was ruined by the heavy rain. Without a window seat now, I'm like a fish living in fish tank that is painted black. I can't see the world outside. I feel disconnected. I am like on the other side of the world, yes, exactly on the other side of all my team mates. I can't even see if they're there.
In a cubicle space of 4, I'm the only one. I'm quite comfortable though as I still see people on my opposite, diagonal and hear my neighbouring colleagues talking and laughing.
Oh yes, yesterday it was the ORANGE-MINIs DAY! We had really tiny oranges (no, not fake), they are real sweet. Sweeter than the big ones I have had recently... I ate like 10 now. Still got some left-over.

I'm dying of a blocked nose, but before that ennui might kill me first
Ennui is a feeling of weariness and dissatisfaction. Ennui is different from boredom in that ennui describes weariness or annoyance over a long period of time; boredom is relieved easily, while ennui is continual.
My ennui doesn't come totally from my work, I reckon it's due to the lousy weekend. Anyway, I'd like to share my official first day of work which started off with collecting of blue-tack (from walls), pins (from vacant seats), doodling on the whiteboard at my desk and finding the perfect chair (with LESSER hairs clung to the seat). After an interesting conversation over lunch with the "older men", things began to pick up... Some administrative work came in during the later part of the day and arghhh... had to overtime for an hour.
Today. I was stunned when my AD (assistant director) passed me a camcorder and told me it's in my care. The following morning, there will be a meeting where I'm asked to shoot some pictures/videos. Wow, I like! I enjoy a variety in my job scope. The whole morning till early afternoon, I nearly died, partly due to my nose, the rest due to the long wait. I have been waiting to get my hands on writing up a report, which just happened to come in about 5 minutes ago.
I would like to elaborate on my really annoying + boring Saturday but... work has just come in. I better get going before I have to stay an hour or two in the office. Anyway, to keep it short and satisfy your curiosity, I have to say a boring company can really kill (me). I realised I have no patience for indecisiveness, uncommunicativeness, meekness and passiveness, I can die when someone like this is going to hang out with me. So please... No, don't torture me...
p/s: For the last entry, I also don't know why tables can't work well in Blog-city!

After a bad Saturday, the bores make me sick
Boil an orange

A friend just taught me a quick "fix it" for flu. It's not 100% effective, it's dependable on individual/situation I presume. But yeah, I just gave it a try.
1. Boil a whole orange till it gets soft and the water is boiling.
2. Let it cool for a while.
3. Peel off the skin and eat the hot orange flesh.
It does clear my nose for an instant, and I feel my throat being immersed in the juice of Vitamin C. Very refreshing!! Ahh, but now my nose is still running *sniff sniff*

Up and over "in-between-jobs"
5 non-working days (but yet busy)... and I literally fell back into my old "in-between-jobs" life without much adaptation or tuning. Now I sound like I'm far too adaptable. Those early mornings seem like ages ago. I have again taken a liking to my late mornings, late breakfast as lunch and early dinner and a snacking supper. Just before I am getting too used to this bad lifestyle (ya, I kinda admit it's not working well for long termed health!), I got a job!! Something good and something bad...
Good: I have a job. I have a position (I'll have no need to use "in-between-jobs" as my employment status anymore). I will have some money rolling in. I will be busy, hence an occupied life. I will also have a nice job title. I will be treated with Yakult or banana every upcoming Tuesday. I will learn new things. I will have new colleagues, new friends and an exciting project. I am temporarily out of DESIGN industry... (woohoo!!)
Bad: Not enough off days. No long holiday in the making for upcoming 6 months. Not enough money, pay is OK but not at all fantastic. I will not get paid for MC or OT, it means no falling sick and even doing overtime and not falling sick too! It means my weekends might be burned without compensation or off-in-lieu (sucks).

2 movies - seen and loved
Film: Barfuss (In German)
My Rating: * * * * (4 out of 5) for the humour and romance
Barfuss means "barefooted" in English.
This is one of the funniest german films... despite quite a few serious ones I have seen in the past. Barfuss is about a mental patient whom followed the cleaner (Til Schweiger as "Nick") from the psychiatric hospital. Nick (yay, drools... he's so gorgeous!) is a hedonistic bachelor who has too much trouble himself (from being jobless, penniless, unruly and on a conflicting relationship with his brother and step-father). Leila, the barefooted girl, who has clung herself to him since escaping from the hospital, began a journey of adventure and love with Nick. He soon realised... Leila is someone he would want to take care of. How touching, absurd and crazy the way the story ends... But I guess I'm another foolish romantic at heart who constantly believe such fairytale exists.
Film: Quinceañera (In Spanish but based in USA)
My Rating: * * * + 1/2 (3.5 out of 5)
"The Quinceañera or Quince Años is, in some Spanish-speaking regions of the Americas, a young woman's celebration of her fifteenth birthday. This celebration marks the transition from the childhood to womanhood of a Quinceañera." -- quoted from Wikipedia.
Something about this film is very engaging... It must be that personal feel you can almost put yourself in those shoes. The kinship, love and hate, misunderstanding(s) in our everyday life can be so easily seen in the movie, it's very expressive - the characters. It also touches certain sensitive issues: immigrant culture, gay, sex, drug and teenage pregnacy. The story revolves around a 14-year-old girl who got pregnant, and how it stirred up problems in her love, family and school life; and living under the same roof with her gay cousin and great-grand uncle. A heart-warming film, I would say.

New IKEA @ Tampines
Singapore's second IKEA has opened in the east!! Huurraaaayyyy!!! But it's located somewhere off Tampines, a little inaccessible but I hope they continue the shuttle, well can opt to take a bus from here too.
The setting makes me feel like I'm in Europe once again. Recalling my visit to IKEA in Germany, it somehow feels like this... A big IKEA building (that looks like a huge container) in the middle of an open space, away from the bustling city and not too close to the residential area. Guess what, we are going to have a massive COURTS and GIANT next to IKEA in coming future. It really feels like I am in UK or Europe again. Those enormous TESCO I saw, or MORRISONS.
By the way, if you're wondering if this is better than the IKEA at Alexandra, I would definitely say YES YES YES. It's extremely spacious, generous to an extent that the IKEA cafe/restaurant is few times bigger than Alexandra's. Look at the picture I took above (with my mobile), don't you want to go for a visit...?? By the way, it just opened on 30 November 2006, I went on the 2nd night, and they give you free mini "lovey-with-hands" till tomorrow (the 3rd).

Awww... I love the new IKEA and that Alleby snake I got.

D-day @ iDA
It's the D-day again. Half day (all due to an interview scheduled at such a bad timing - this afternoon).
Routine bores me, so I'm kinda happy to leave, but at the same time a little sad to part with this place, which has such pleasant environment and amiable people. Not forgetting my window seat that allows me to enjoy the sights of rain and shine. I won't miss the lunching here, definitely! Nor the daily morning bus shuttle from the MRT station. I prefer a slow walk among the busy morning bustle - those heavy traffic, peak hour rush with all the white-collar people... However, it isn't so possible with my 830am start, I need to wake up way earlier than my 7am to do that. In the bus (shuttle to office), I saw the blue-collar workers working at the site by the road (building of the new circle line). Something I normally wouldn't take note of, I wondered how early have they started their morning. I looked at how professionally they were carrying out their task and couldn't help but to admire some people for what they are doing.
As I was pondering... I know deep down, I'm getting closer and closer to where I want to be. 让我们一起加油吧!

It's Yakult day
The banana day wasn't too long ago, and it's the YAKULT day today. It's apple-flavoured, and served very chilled.
Eaten some kinda of pineapple rice with chicken steak for lunch, that didn't taste at all like REAL food! Accompanied by Marigold's new pink guava - which was pretty dilute. Concluding my "Best place to work", Suntec actually falls short under its food category... there is almost no good food around here although you get a nice view working high up in the city area. Tanjong Pagar has to be my favourite. SPH wasn't too bad with the surrounding coffee shops and its own cafeteria with very delicious Malay kuehs.
Actually 11 days here goes really quick, 2 more days and I have done my job!

Shoe-wrecking, and how to survive it!
I am a shoe-wrecker...
Shoe-wrecking can be nerve-wracking. Seriously.
This is the... nth time my shoes broke/tore/split/whatever. Okay, it happened again yesterday, arrghh. I have so much countless experience that I decided it is time I should share some tips on how to save your day, in fact your face too. Or even your poor feet.
Shoe-wrecking situations & solutions (my experience and your possibility):
1. Someone stepped on the back of your heels, just as coincidentally it happily falls into the "gap" between the mrt ground and train.
Demand payment, at least $10 more than the cost of your shoes or if you're not embarrassed by the passer-by since you're already embarrassed enough, ask for twice the amount!! Alternatively, ask the culprit to get you a pair of shoes from the nearest shop (bit unreliable) or inform train staff to retrieve shoe if still intact.
((EDITED 20/12/06)) Forgot to talk about the real solution thereafter. I guess you have to go barefooted and then take a cab home (can't imagine walking on the road or taking a bus?). Or get someone to bring/buy you shoes.
I'd chose the first choice, since it once happened and fortunately that poor guy was too guilty and insisted on paying me.
2. Shoes disintegrated after you left home and walked about 1km.
Get help, ring anyone at home to bring you another pair. Or if it's still in walking condition (before it reaches the final stage), make your way home in the quickest but most gentle manner.
My old running shoes had this problem, the sole came off, soon you see all the bits falling apart, like powder!
3. Shoes split open or tore when you're out (at work or in public).
This scenario is the worst, but it greatly depends on how bad the condition of your shoe(s) is in. It always help to have a pair of slipper in the office (now you know why!!). Here we talk about a few different level of damage/wreckage:

- Covered shoe's mouth/body split open.
Try stapling, if you're in the office. If you're out and nowhere near stationary, look for "sticky" options in your bag. Like price tag, stamp (the sticker sort) or even Handsaplast (I tried this and was praying no one was looking at my "plastered" shoes). Next, with this temporaily help, find the nearest shoe shop, get a cheap substitute, or if you want a better lasting pair, shop carefully. - Flats/sandals similar to flip-flop with its center strap/support snapped.
I'm afraid you have to do floor-dragging till you find a nearest shoe store or hopefully someone is kind enough to bring you a pair. - Heel(s) broke.
Try breaking the other pair, and make do with flats for the time being. Next, find the nearest shoe shop, get a cheap substitute, or if you want a better lasting pair, shop carefully. - Heels with strap(s) that snapped.
Happened to me yesterday. I was almost frantic when I couldn't find any Handsaplast in my wallet. Don't worry, I found a new alternative. Hair rubber band! Girls with short hair, no harm carrying some. I managed to secure the base of the heels to my feet with my hair band and walked all the way across the road to the mall to get a new pair. Imagine having to drag one feet across the road?? Jesus.

。。if only I could smell Tommy's nose now.
今早试了Caffe' con Cioccolato,味道还真不错!比起Latte con Cioccolato,它更像咖啡。可能天气冷的关系,我现象很想喝一杯热Cioccolato!!!

Colors
A bunch of bananas in the office
Today... everyone else seem to have decided to wear yellow together. From pale yellow to mustard yellow and also a striped (almost typed stripped!! it's a total different meaning!) bumble bee. I wasn't informed, maybe it was their staff meeting yesterday where they created the theme. I wore RED today, striking. I felt a bit like tomato, with the rest mustard... Or an apple among the bananas. Someone else wore orange, so I guess at least we are all ranging from this to this.
Actually I think it's much more fun when you do such a color cult, then you won't have to be indecisive about what to wear the next day and have something to look forward to (seeing other people in the same color). Imagine lunch time, you see this bunch of "colored" people together, it should be quite eye-catching and funny. Haha. That is only if you're up for it and has a colorful wardrobe. Some people wouldn't follow because the color doesn't complement the skin color or figure... but hey, its all just spontaneous fun.
Thinking about this, I do have a lot of different colored tops:
Pink. Orange. White. Black. Green. Blue. Red. Yellow. Grey. Brown. Cream. Purple.
It started to rain at 1030am. 'Winter' is Singapore is rainy and cold; not as cold as Europe but still cold, considering how hot and humid it has always been. 1055am, the rain ceased. I feel like I'm the weather girl, but can't help noticing all these changes in my surrounding. 11:05am, I see a bit of light... something is dying to come through that misty grey sky.
Got a text from my lil sister that she got the NAC (National Arts Council) job, I'm pleased for her. Finally a permanent job after what 8 months of doing nothing, searching and a few crappy temp jobs. The first job should always be a good learning experience, I guess NAC has chosen her because she's fresh outta school and probably very eager and willingly to learn. I do have some comments about NAC, but shall keep that for myself/gossips than spreading around here - in case I get sued.
The coffee machines here have spoilt me. I love the italian one as it brews nice choices like Cappuccino, Caffe' con Cioccolato (will try this soon!!) and Latte con Cioccolato. The other one brews good Nescafe coffee, Tea Tarik, Milo and Japanese green tea (suits well when I do sushi!).

It's freezing but not snowing :(
It started drizzling... not long after that blaring sun was forcing its way through the blind. Her (why female, cos' in german it's DIE SONNE) sunlight was too much on my eyes and I lost my concentration. The weather has become very unpredictable (as my life is too), it suddenly changes in the next minute. It was so sunny 15 minutes ago, nobody would have expected the whole sky to turn grey and like a mist it covered the once so beautiful skyline.
Feeling a little cold, I went on to make myself a cup of nice hot tea. Standing by the window watching the rain falling so quickly, I almost thought I saw snow. The drizzle looked so alike, like those snowflakes making its way down... Very quickly, very finely, I wish they were snow! It got heavier and heavier and I realised these wet water droplets would never be snow in Singapore. Where can I once again feel that numbness and pain - from building a snowman, from having a snow fight...

Cioccolato, don't you just love them
Life is not so perfect, so sometimes we need to do with less!
About my chocolate craving the previous day, I found a solution - Maltesers. They were my favourite but now I prefer dark chocolate and those without artifical flavouring or coloring. So far, Lindt is good but too expensive a taste for my frequent "mouth itch". For those whom are not very into chocolate, here's a picture of Maltesers. Oh I bought the milk and also the dark chocolate version (they have a white chocolate one as well).
On the inside, it's crunchy.
Anyway, I want to recommend you a (German) chocolate [pictured below] called the Reber Mozart Kugeln. I tried in Germany. And they do have my favourite MARZIPAN!!!! Oh, I found another brand exactly the same, Mirabell Mozart Kugeln from Salzburg, Austria! Which is the genuine one?? They look sooooooooooo.... identical. Whatever it is, let me show you this chocolate, and you decide whom you want to buy it from. LOL. Singapore has some speciality shops for chocolate, and they have it!
So let's take a look at what it's made of!! Each Mozart Kugeln has a heart of finest marzipan surrounded by dark and light praline cream with a coat of rich dark chocolate! Don't let me confuse you, Kugeln (which means "balls") is just one of the many choices they offer! Take your pick and drool~
Den Regen mag ich...
(DAMNIT, MY IE CRASHED!!! I HATE IE. IT NEVER WORKS PROPERLY!!!!! So there goes my "99%" done entry, scheisse.)
"Plok... plok..."
I was drawn to the sudden splattering at my window. I turned and saw huge droplets falling from the sky. Very heavily... Within minutes, the rain ceased. Amazing. Not even a drizzle. The clouds had hovered over the clear sky, I noticed shades of white among the cluttered grey. It paints a very dull image on my window right now!! Time to time, I hear the thunder calling... who is it that it's beckoning??? The lighting just flashed across the sky...
I love the sun, but I love the cloudy days as much. I could almost feel the temperature drop outside, just like the air-con in my office I believe. But I yearn much more to be out there, breathing that fresh cold air. It feels just like autumn, as real/close as it could get, just without the leaves turning red and stinging chilly winds.
It drizzled... for a few minutes. My feet are cold and it reminds me of cold winter.

Banana? I want Marzipan chocolate (not from England!!)

Everyone in the office gets a banana today. Monkey day? Banana day? Fruit day? Perhaps they have a weekly fruit theme, like an apple or orange next week?? It didn't do much for my sweet tooth but at least put to good use for my "itchy mouth".
Arrgghhh... I have a very very very very bad craving for chocolate today... so desperate for a specific kinda, with 3 rounds of walks in the supermarket, I couldn't find what I fancy. Why am I so picky with good chocolate? Like everything else...
November wake-up call
After some days of early mornings, I seem to have adapted. Am I very adaptable? But there isn't any more birds' chirping, except on that first morning. How weird!!
Adventure Click is still keeping mum, when is the news going to be out?? Or am I not shortlisted... I'm still hoping to hear at least something from them!! Tell me, yes or no!!! The voting results have also changed, more and more people are voting for Germany, and it overtook Greece which was first on the list.
The dress code at work is smart (casual), moreover my surrounding tells that jeans are better kept for Friday since we're at the same level with the Board directors. Last night, I dug out a whole stack of clothes and began ironing. I had no idea what I should wear, I never need to dress formal for most of my previous jobs. So it's always a headache in the morning. The good thing is my sister is up at the same time, so we often exchange remarks about one another's dressing and help each other to make better decision. So having a sibling of the same gender is not that bad, isn't it.
Dragonboat is hurting me like hell, I wonder why it gets worse and worse after more sessions. My body felt like ripping apart on Sunday, wasn't a good time to relax. My poor fingers were 'injured' at the training because someone stupid wrapped plaster around the paddle and its rough surface was tearing at my flesh the whole 2 hours!! However, despite I was physically tortured, we did something hilarious. We paddled under the Merlion's spitting 3 times. Those tourists and people in the duck tour/sampan boats couldn't stop snapping pictures of us. I might have to give second thoughts about continuing, maybe I should return to pilates which I'd prefer more.
I haven't see any money coming in yet, though doing a temporary job now does mean situation is improving. I dislike $ but I still need them to live...
My dear friend is having job trouble and might not be home for Xmas, which is really a let-down because it's already so near to Christmas! I sometimes ponder over what's the main motivation for her to want to remain in a foreign place, is it the greed for money, the desire to succeed in career or is it for a man who is not worthy of her admiration - I hope she makes the right choice :))
After all these time, I realized a lot of places can be your home but the one with true friends and love (not just romantic love, but all other kinds) is the best one to be in. Stay true to your heart:)

The bird song...
Have you heard the birds singing...
I bet most of you have... This morning, one of the rare time I have to get up @ 730am (after so much night shifts and late hours), I almost can't remember when I last woke up this early. I heard the birds chirping, had a taste of the morning freshness (air!! perhaps there's so much more oxygen!) and felt the buzz of the morning rush - this I don't quite fancy. I'll be hearing these chirping and singing for another 2 weeks, a little bothered about sleeping early and waking up 4-5 hours than I usually do. But, it's a nice change after seeing so much of the darkness than the day. I hope I can be like the chirpy birds, full of chirpiness!!

我真的对我现在無憂無慮 (haha, traditional because I can't find my way to type the special "lü" in chinese!) 的生活毫无怨言!我不想有某个人一直询问我每天的点点滴滴,琐琐碎碎的事物!!

Austrian Kaffee
Wiener Kaffeehaus - this is where I was yesterday.

Yearning to try something from Vienna without spending a bomb on an air ticket?? LOL. I sound like I'm their promoter (but I'm not!), but I do like their Sachertorte. That delicious chocolate cake accompanied with fresh cream, I love the chocolate coating. And guess what, it's very reasonably priced. When I last went to Pacific Coffee, not only has the size of their cakes shrunk, it's overpriced too. So are many coffe outlets with that $6 for a cup of coffee. I also witnessed their sandwiches being patronized as frequent as the Sachertorte, portion wasn't too miserly as well. For coffee, I tried the einspaenner, wasn't too bad really. It wasn't bitter though it was black coffee but somewhat acidulous. Next time maybe a Maria Theresia or a Melange! A few more plus points, I read they have free broadband access (wireless?), pretty decor and a very cosy setting. A place for a good book perhaps!
Besides their homepage, I also found an article on this virgin Viennese café (in Singapore) for a more indepth interview!

A good start... whatever it'll bring
Suddenly, my life is getting busier... I meet a lot of new people... I have been out daily for the past few days... I have started my active lifestyle (gym and yes, dragonboating). Everyone was startled at my new hobby, maybe because I look like a teeny thing, you couldn't believe how much I can contribute to that paddling, hehe... Anyway, I must admit, the training is tough and getting tougher each time! Last weekend, it was so intense because some people had to train for the upcoming race this week, and the newbies had to endure the session too. My arms hurt...
Today, I am so delighted because it's the first time since so long I can SPEAK GERMAN with people and have them understand me, and well at the same time I could understand some of them. It's amazing, because we have a bunch of people (Germans, Japaneses, Spanish, Singaporeans and Indonesian) all fluent or trying to learn the language. It gives me such a kick to be able to say something in German. Oh gosh.... so happy!
I feel very emotional today while I was reading the book by John Gray. I'm just another typical woman, am I not?
p/s: Another thing, I begin to detest online freaks, people who demand your attention all the time and say nasty things. I wonder what are these people looking for online... Get a life, arghhh...

*fingers crossed*

Hmmmmmm.................
For the opening show tonight, it wasn't as good as I expected. Or did I raise it a little too high?
Personally, I think the performance is 3.5 out of 5... but I'll give 4 to their acrobatic dance which I really like! A lot of well-dressed people and well, a true-blue French musical (in french!).
It's a little difficult trying to read those English/Mandarin subtitles, after a while, you just want to forget about the screen and concentrate on every little thing that is happening on stage!! A very complex love story between Quasimodo (main cast), Frollo, Phoebus and Esmeralda, with narrator, Gringoire. I was expecting more from Gringoire, but Frollo seemed to stand out among them, I think he did much better job. Actually so did Esmeralda.
Despite I'm not a big fan of the language (French), I'm always open to watching musicals. Keen to watch the first French musical in Singapore, click here for Notre Dame de Paris.

His "Oma und Opa"
As Christmas is approaching... (lol, okay I know Halloween is still not over), I begin to miss his "Oma und Opa". Though I have a living grandma, but it is just so different from having both grandparents still around. (Funny, how come "parent" has a plural form with "s" but grandparent doesn't in the dictionary??) I love the handmade Vollmann's cakes - the sweet almond pastry, the cheesecake, the fruit tart, the creamy cake... I can't care less about gaining weight when I see them - I just have to eat!! The last two christmas, I remember well that I was always fatter than usual, thanks to all the goodies. I wish I can open a cake cafe with the oma's recipe!! Even though they can't utter much in english, but I always feel so welcome in their home, in their company. I look at their wrinkled face, gray hair and still could see so much love in them. I miss them :(((((( I wonder if they will still remember that little Singaporean trixy - me...
p/s: Surprisingly, I didn't get as much aching as I expected.. hoooray! And actually D is still using his old no., so I managed to send him his blessings. All is cool :))

New things, strange things, weird things...
Michael's blog seems to have vanished... one day mine will too, or maybe I'll give it a new name or totally start a fresh new blog. But right now, I'm still happy reading my good old memories...
The newspaper reported a case of sudden death, the boy was only 16 and was healthy. Why do someone so healthy and young died all of a sudden, and it was horrible because that day was his birthday. A birthday song by his family failed to wake him up, I felt so sad for them. It always always always reminds me that I must live my life happier so one day even if I do leave suddenly, I have done a lot that I wanted...
On Friday, mum had a precious day off due to the Hari Raya earlier, so we decided to go Kusu island. It was like an annual event when we were younger and I wasn't around the last couple of years. Dad, mum, me and little sister. It wasn't hazy or too hot, but still warm and humid. I didn't like the Marina south pier as it was far too inconvenient. We had to take cabs because my parents couldn't walk long with their weak legs. It was a short nice trip since we haven't had any proper family outing for a long time, even though the things you see at Kusu is always the same... but this time I fed an old tortoise with my apple ;)
After that, I decided to bring them to Vivo City - Singapore's new largest shopping mall. It's our virgin trip so all of us quite like the idea to go and take a look despite my parents do not fancy shopping at all. Friday, nonetheless, was still super crowded... even looking for seats in the foodcourt took a while. I like some of the small boutiques where they do have unique and affordable dresses... and lot of new brands. It's like an all-in-one heaven for shopping (orchard road + cityhall), call it a paradise! Anyway the most exciting thing is that one of my favourite brands in UK is opening here - River Island but I bet it's going to be soooo.... expensive!! :(
Today I had my first training at my new found activity... it was tiring, I know I have to build up those stamina I had when we played volleyball at Sentosa some years back. It was fun, I liked being on or near the water again... I was usually seasick but doesn't seem like anymore, the ferry to Kusu was fine as well. I used up a lot of strength earlier and I am expecting my whole body to ache later on or perhaps tomorrow. So far, my arms and legs just feel a bit overused, other than that, the pain hasn't come ;)
D is getting married. Wow, what a news and its from the new team mates. I knew him in 2001 but ever since we have lost touch. I wonder if I should congratulate him, I think I should but what is his number?? LOL. I think I shouldn't get his number from my new found mates... I can always send him the wishes when I do see him.

Out of nowhere, it rains...
It hasn't rained for a while... and it just did today. The haze situation is improving and I hope it doesn't come back any sooner. I miss that fresher air and not walking amidst the island of mist/fog. The second last of Fab 4 has since left, yet I have been feeling indifferent. I miss her laughter and sometimes her screaming into my ear (on the phone) but I'm sure I'll see her again soon - maybe next year. But hey I spoke to her on MSN Voice. The only one left in Singapore, me (like Joy the last time), but strangely I'm not feeling too lonely, but quite so comfortable in my own space. I'm not feeling particularly inspired to write today, so I'll just do my normal rambling or even rumblings (realized this is more towards dissatisfaction). 3 days ago, my sister woke up on the wrong side of the bed and blew her top, almost like insanity. She reminded me of the time my mum lost her cool, they are too similar... But all is over, and the following day she tried to make peace.
My little sister has the radio on too often, so and something caught my ears. It is said that "A study/research or a survey has showed that blue-eyed men married to partners whom are not blue-eyed are more likely to cheat", my sister blamed it on their recessive genes. They do want to have blue-eyed babies, don't they? Aha, anyway do you believe it? Girls with blue-eyed partners, beware... However, I think if a man wants to cheat, no matter what nationality, what eye color, what race, what age he is... he will. Enough, when will I be taking the plane again?

That long awaited book
Finally... finally... finally... my Jamie Oliver's book collection has got a kick-start!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to Border's once-in-a-blue-moon 30% "one book per transaction" discount. And now I've got the one I most wanted!! I've read his latest one on Italy but my favourite one still has to be "taaaaaaaaaaaaaadaa" (sound effect)
Inside this book, I feel that Jamie has added a very personal touch. Besides lots of "yummmmmmmilicious" recipes, there are lovely kids-style illustrations... photos of kids, his family, friends or people in his life. Oh, he has a mushroom soup recipe (I love mushrooms, doncha too mushieloom)!!
Luv it!!

Join the dragon!
Today an ang moh woman said I look more like a Filipino than a Chinese... not sure if I should take that as a compliment but whatever... it's not the first time someone questions me about my Chinese ethnicity! Try google and actually the findings are not so bad lah! But I'm impressed, she must have stayed in Singapore long enough to already able to distinguish Asian faces and nationalities. The others opt to ask for my nationality first before trying to decipher further... one asked if I am Malay and the other disagreed. It's amusing when I let other debate about what race I am, very interesting... lol.
My new sports interest has an exciting beginning today. That bad habit of mine of not being punctual today has in turn became a blessing in disguise. I ran into a friend, got acquainted with other teams as well... before finally meeting up with "my team" and having a beer treat together. The British team seems to remember me as the girl in green. Mmm...

Want a bigger picture?
Oktoberfest collage by my artistic colleague... aha, I guess I didn't even have that mood to get it up so nicely as long as I did get most of the pictures up to you guys to have a glimpse! And that was done the night after I was back from the hours of dancing and drinking... Okay, but hey, cheerio to hers... I like it!
In case you're wondering... yes these are my pictures (the same ones on my Oktoberfest post) ;)

1981 is the year?
Look, Singapore is celebrating 25 years of technology!! Count down, it's back to 1981 - as old as me!! Well, the IDA and others have done up a brillant, lovely, colorful and interactive exhibition at the Expo - don't miss it! Yes, even with free talks and seminars! Free admission till today (Sunday)
Over 500ml and not wasted ;)
Seriously, my beer belly is growing, expanding, errr..protruding??... after this one night at the Oktoberfest. My normal limit of 1/2 a pint is long forgotten, I had a 500ml mug to myself, and yet I'm still sober (not even red). My god, it's Erdinger!! Later on, my ex-colleague bought on a new challenge, a huge 3L glass of Erdinger (err.. well its shared by numerous - several people sitting around us too... ewww... :S).
Oktoberfest in Singapore, no one is going to expect much but hey, it's way beyond expectation. I guess it's not only the food and beer, it is the CROWD. And really, tonight I have had the most fun out of so many months... Dancing on the bench, on the wet table, with strangers, forming a line running through the dining hall or group line dancing, taking pictures with those specially dressed... :)))) One problem, that is my legs are aching so much, I guess I haven't been dancing enough for quite a while, hahaa. Fortunately the recent haircut has took off some weight off me, I can jump and swing without feeling a load on my head. Plus, the german food is not bad (of course, the beer and food couldn't compare with Germany's but they were good enough!), portion is a little small, but it's 3-course and lot of drinking after that... so that explains it!
What more, despite the haze being back again on this lucky night, we have an indoor "tent" with air-con! Perfect!
Thank you SPH for giving me such spontaneous ex-colleagues... thank you guys too for such a crazy nightout (even though I don't think they have this URL nor read my blog :p)... Fabulous's the word. Even though I didn't even get a chance to practise some german or understand the live band's (such a strong accent, even when they count 1, 2, 3... Prost... I was thinking err... is that their dialect??!), but... I still loved it. Oktoberfest 2007 in Singapore or anywhere else in the world? Sure!!

Tenth of tenth (it's the date)
Tonight the sky at 730pm seemed so much darker than other nights... I wonder if it was the haze playing tricks on my eyes again. The haze was here, gone and now back - what a nice treat for me to hit highest of 150 on my birthday... highest in 9 years, what a record. Now the date has somewhat a significance, ahah...
Anyway, finally another day into town... after a night of less than 4 hours of sleep. I tried to get to bed at midnight but was wide awake for 3 more hours, such a torture! No, it's not insomnia, it's just that my body clock is still on my previous job's working hours - night shift. And it didn't make things better with mum throwing up all night (due to gastric flu), what a luck! Poor mum, and poor us... the rest whom ended up catching only a few hours of sleep. I was quite worried... at the same time, quite sad all of a sudden recalling all the bad memories (must be time of the night). My elder sister slept like a log though.
Oh, I was about to mention today's activity in town... I went to Adobe InDesign seminar which was a lot better than I have expected. However, due to my lack of rest, I couldn't help dozing off or listening with nothing going into my ears at some point! Tim Cole is so cool in person and very amusing... (Got me thinking about being an Evangelist too!)
After that, I made up my mind for that long awaited haircut that I have been considering... I decided to take the risk, I walked up the second time to the salon and got seated. I didn't want to give a damn how it would turn out as I've had the same long hair (pretty much the same hairstyle for years... well my friends say it suits me well but you know, for women: new hairstyle = new start. And so... why not! It turned out, ermmm how should I say... quite okay, they blew it dry and straight. I look like someone else, more suited for an office woman in a suit! Anyway, I love it the way it was... curl or wavy and not straight and flat. So I shall do it my own style... My sisters said I look like "me" when I was 10!! It won't be long before it grows long again...

my mini gallery (for the first time around)
Hello guys... for those whom like to take a peep at how I celebrate the mid-autmn... here's a picture (look, my neighbours are doing my way too!! And don't worry, we are careful, won't cause a fire...). Oh by the way, I'm too engrossed with the mooncake eating that I didn't even remember to snap a picture!
A sinful dessert I just had... Marshmallow brownie topped with vanilla (plus nuts) ice cream. I swear I won't have another one for months... It has satisfied my sweet tooth and will be for a long long time. Gosh!!
A picture taken on my birthday by my friend with a polaroid! Color adjusted... mmmm the color seems to be fading after the film isn't used for a long time.

I've officially reached the age where I should start using anti-aging products!
Thanks to my lovely girl-mate for making this possible... I felt touched. For years and years, I have had a couple of surprises. But the best one is always done with such sincerity that makes me swelling up with tears. FAB 4 is left with 2 and soon only 1 here in Singapore. Everyone is everywhere! I celebrated my birthday with Syndy, just supposedly a decent dinner and maybe a drink (which didn't come true).
But hey, it was a great time. Not only have we got the Tiramisu cake ON THE HOUSE, the jukebox was playing the BIRTHDAY SONG, the service crews were singing me the birthday song, everyone else in the restaurant stared in wonder and clapped for me... as the waiter put down the cake lit with a candle right in front of me, I was speechless... blushing... in fact I almost cried in joy!
(Actually it felt a bit similiar to the time when I left my previous job and people do the singing, only that it wasn't this emotional... I wonder if I've a soft spot for people singing for me!!)
This is one of my best birthday celebration in recent years...
p.s: I didn't wish for anything when I blew the candle...
p.p.s: Something I'm very pleased about is getting praises quite often these few days when I practise my german with the native speakers. Not that it makes my ego bigger... but I feel more motivated to keep it going... to keep on learning, using and hopefully speaking... danke, danke!!

Celebrate with me lah!

There comes my Singlish again - see??
Anyway this year, due to the double "7th month" in our chinese calendar, the Mid-Autumn festival (or the Singaporeans like to call it the "Lantern or Mooncake festival" is delayed till a day before my birthday. So everyone seems to be celebrating it with me!
I love a lot of our chinese festivals, especially when it meant that food is accompanying them. Like the Chinese new year & "Ba Kua" (barbequed meat), Dragon boat with rice dumpling, Mid-Autumn with mooncakes and Winter Solstice festival with "tang yuan" (glutinous rice flour balls). Okay, back to our topic before I get further and further (when it comes to food... oh no...).
Thank you my friends for the early greetings... some of whom I did not expect from. Not a lot of people know of my birthday and especially me being another woman whom rather not reveal my age unless required! Low profile birthday, lol, in fact I didn't hold celebration most of the time... only when I was much younger, my parents would buy me a cake and do a small party at my grandma's. All the kids like me would be excited over it...
BS, thanks for the book (maybe it will come in handy in my next travel trip;)); thanks to my sisters for forking out/chipping in for the things I like (yes, that was how Tommy came about 2 years ago - my sister mailed it to London!); thanks to my girlies too!
For now, I shall sign off wishing everyone a happy time during this lantern/ mooncake/ Mid-Autumn festival!! Tip: Drink some chinese tea (especially green tea) to get off the excessive oil!! Sigh, time to get fat, lit lanterns, burn candles... and light up my corridor!!
Yea, don't remind me, I know I'm another year older... tomorrow!!
P/S: Singapore Pools is also celebrating with its $5 million prize money for Mid-Autumn's TOTO tonight!! :))))

Alas...
Reading BS's blog (Boonsiong, in case there's more BS, lol), it makes me realise one thing! THAT IS - my mum is not the only one screaming! Haha. Sorry, it wasn't meant to be a joke, but yes I truly feel this is so normal in our cultures. Parents yelling and screaming! I hope not to become one. Anyway BS I haven't read your entries for a long time, since you took down your old blog, this one has too much Chinese for me to handle!!
These days I have been believing too much into astrology. I read the paper daily and always take into account what it says about "Libra" on the second last page of LIFE. Now, who is that someone I haven't met that it mentions today... I'm very curious!
With most friends not big fans of beer... I tried my luck asking my ex-colleagues if anyone was keen to join me at Singapore's Oktoberfest event. Surprisingly, all these people are so spontaneous, such a bunch of joy! 8 of us will be going for that 3 course German dinner and Erdinger beer.. awww... thanks!
Angela rang on Sunday and we spoke for over an hour despite the very bad connection! I think we should Skype (yeah, now I've installed)... It was a long chat but it never felt like its duration; so much to update, so much to gossip and share that it seems like the clock has already stopped there. I'm looking forward to spend Christmas together (in Singapore's summer and not London's bitter coldness)!!
Some nights ago, I dreamt again... of the person I now so dislike. I hate him, more than anything else in the world. I wonder why was I still helping him in the dream, like I always dreamt of, again and again. Why was I so happy in the dream with him!

October is...
Someone reminded me I'll be turning 25 soon, yet I'm still in denial. I lost track of the time, the dates, the days... Is it Monday? Sunday? Thursday? Is it still September??? Unfortunately it's not.
Things have been slow... Who said good things are worth waiting? Whom also said the best are kept for the last??? I want to believe, however for an impatient person like me this task is so difficult. What will I end up doing, where? Errm, I think I'm going to be brain-dead if I keep on thinking...
I recently bought a new set of Tarots, only to be called wasteful by a friend of mine. Yeah, we all have our collectibles/toys I guess... I was attracted to them because of how beautifully they are crafted or so called painted! They are such wonderful illustrations, vibrant colors with tints of gold - yes, indeed gold. I guess two should be enough for now, they are expensive so... not again!
My mum was screaming last week, in fact she was in such a foul mood it took her some days to get back to her happy self. I didn't provoke her but she wasn't speaking to any of us, and didn't cook at all. I was fine, actually sorted myself out pretty quick but not for poor dad. I bought her favorite mooncakes, so are they mine too. The yam paste with crispy skin, oh no, I'm getting hungry thinking of it!
I attended one of STOMP's rock concert at Orchard library. I was actually there to support an ex-colleague's band - Roulette. It was better than I expected but it ended quite harsh with a teenage girl giving criticizing remarks to the artist. Not very polite at all. I think we should all respect arts and performance as they are. Anyway, it was a great time meeting the old colleagues...
Ich bin müde, ich soll im bed gehen... (p/s: Ich muss auch Geld sparen...)

Their happiness, theirs
A quote once said "Smiles are infectious...", can happiness be infectious too?
I have been feeling happy for others too often recently, so much that I wonder if I'm still sane, that I wonder if I'm genuinely feeling for them... Where have those feelings of envy and jealousy gone too? Perhaps it is a good thing, perhaps I'm cultivating the positive feelings after reading that Dalai Lama & scientists' experiment?
A friend left for her dream to further her studies, I felt so glad for her. A friend landed in her dream job (well, I think it is since she has nothing else in mind), it was good news and I felt happy for her. Another friend left Singapore probably for good to work in another exciting country. I thought it was a good thing! My sister is having better prospects in her current company, I think she's getting luckier... A mate I used to like a whole lot, and still do (as a friend) is falling in love, I actually am excited for him. A guy I used to go out with is happily married with 2 kids, I think he's happy and I'm too for him.
Am I still normal? Slight abnormal?? Why am I soaking in their happiness?? It's a funny feeling... I laid on bed for a long time last night, wondering why. I should be looking at mine, soon... in fact, I need to eh!

Yankee burger
Actually had this a couple of weeks ago... at the AMK coffeeshop with my now ex-colleagues.
** Well, blog-city is said to have given us some free space for files, so I'm testing it now! Uploaded a picture successfully and well I even saw we can upload MP3~ Mmmm... thanks Blog-city. However, I have to see how much space we are given each... carefully utilise! **
Oh by the way, Botak Jones is cheap and affordable for its American fast food. The beef patty is thick, juicy and pretty well done, I almost wanted to compare it to Burger King's. Ah, but well, try for yourself!! The fries are peppered with chilli powder - something different? The long waiting time is definitely worthy and will be compensated with this mouth-watering infamous burger. Overall, my verdict is thumbs up!

Singapore, 1st class - not so impressed!
I went to collect my '2nd-time-experiment-with-lomo-fish-eye' photographs from one of the Singapore Color Centre. To my surprise (I've been there once, and it was pretty good), I actually encountered such a bad service that made me hesitant to use their service again.
Singapore is first-class for a lot of things... like its Changi Airport, the cleanliness, etc. But when it comes to customer service, we are certainly not the best, not even the average... Oh well, I mean there are a lot of bad or you call it "black" sheeps around.
Yesterday I brought my film to the shop and asked for developing into 3R. I know 4R is common, but I'm collecting my 3R lomo photos. The customer service crew kept persuading me to do 4R since it's only a 5 cents difference, which isn't a matter of cost to me, 3R is just what I wanted. So I insisted and she wrote "3R" on my collection slip. I turned up today, she gave me all in 4R. Of course, I'm furious. I remember I told her repeatedly I wanted my 3R. She did not apologize for that mistake, instead she kept urging me to keep those copies of the wrong size, and it costed more. When asked to re-develop the right sizes, she seemed a little reluctant. I also told her I wanted to have 2 photos less after I browsed through the pictures since they were obviously over-exposed - those photos were in orange-hue! She said "NO" and I couldn't choose. I asked for her manager, then she told me she was only the one I could speak to, this time her attitude slightly improved. She allowed me to do with 2 photos less, however this time round, she didn't even bother to adjust the color of my photos which she did for my 4R, she insisted she could give them to me right away - yes with such lousy service and quality! Yes, to make matter worse, she also developed one photo less for me (after I went through the negative) which I had to make another trip down.. arghh! Mad, mad, mad... I'm really very mad at how unprofessional service that is, and when it all boiled down to her negligent mistake.
My only consolation - Thank goodness, I have a couple of captivating pictures this time round!
