Chick flick + 2 big men

Sounds exciting huh! Well, I caught 27 Dresses. Not a film of my choice but I definitely didn't mind catching it... so I went along with one of these men's choice. Isn't it surprising that a guy would propose to watch a romantic comedy?? Well, I'm not very sure but one thing I'm sure is this generation of men is getting weird!

Anyhow, it's a good laugh. Watching romantic comedy always (never fails) make me emotional, especially at the most touching part. Well, they are movies, they are written based on a script. It's like perfect, ideal and what can we expect in reality?? Very often, it doesn't come true or never gets close to that. So, anyway, it just makes me want to skip romantic films for a while... I do like them and films like Spiderman, I was a sucker for those. But now... I just like something different. A change of taste.

The other big man is a baker and does excellent cookies and tea biscuits. I was supposed to join the baking session but for personal reasons I couldn't make it. But this kind man has kept two of those for me, they were my supper last night and lunch today! Very yumm.... I have pictures (which I will share very soon when I get home and have them resized!).

The sour cream yogurt, onion and bacon with cheese tea biscuits are excellent - more cheese would have totally make a big difference and I do like those chives onions... They look like scones to me, just not as buttery, but still they are physically identical. I call them "butterless scones". The chocolate cookies are equally great and the smell of chocolate has numbed my sense of smell the moment I opened the Ziplock bag. OMG OMG. Crunchy and that sweet savoury Marzipan paste inside, my favourite (like one of my favourite Germany Ritter Sports' Marzipan chocolate). The only thing was that the Marzipan comes out as a chunk separately from the cookies, wonder if it could have been melted onto it?? But well, I'm not an expert in baking, so I guess need to find that out...

Pictures have arrived!!

Tired with filing, filing, filing

Administrative work is killing me. Slowly it's sucking me dry. I'm trying to bear with it, sometimes I get to do fun things, go to events, meet people or help out with important stuff. I have an important role, but a boring one. How long can I do this for.... Someone, please tell me. Hire me, I need to be a personal PA who will be flying all over with the boss (LOL, this is funny but it's a good dream!).

I smell Orange Julius.

It is officially my 800th post, no joke, no error this time round.

MRT is as bad as London Tube

A horrible start to my 1st day of work, train (MRT) service is disrupted from Pasir Ris to Tanah Merah station. Thousands stranded in the eastern part of Singapore, having difficulties getting to work. ONLY today, I felt that traveling on a bus is the best thing to do (I seriously hate the slow bus journey with the last job I did).

From as early as 6am, the trains have already stopped its service... and many unknowingly still headed for their usual travel routine (MRT). Mum rang at 7+am, she rarely did so it's going to be some big news. She let out the bad news. My elder sister is taking a bus so she's unaffected, but me and lil sister worked in town and there isn't a direct bus service. We walked among the hundreds painfully waiting for the pathetic bus shuttle to take us to the next nearest Station (seriously 70 buses aren't enough for like 50, 000+ people!!!). It's insane, it's peak hour and almost every other bus which came along is packed till 1mm from the closed doors.

Walked 2 bus stops away to get away from the crowd, somehow got on a bus no. 15 to get to Eunos. By then it's already 9am! I'm supposed to start at 830am. I have already SMS my supervisor about it but still received a call from the HR who might be wondering if I "fly their plane". Well I remember it's my first day, but I'm stuck somewhere, figuring the fastest and most economical way to get to work. As I expected, today I'm just there to surf the internet, nothing is ready. So I guess I was doing the right thing, didn't make a mad rush on a taxi with the now increased fare, surcharges at peak hour and into the CBD area!

Today I also witnessed frustrated "passengers" venting their anger at the poor staffs whom were trying to organize and facilitate the "unexpected" mishap. They were raising their voice as early as 8am in the morning... jesus people, just cool down! Wonder if that's Monday Blues or well maybe they do have some important appointment (if so, just take a Taxi, spare the screaming and ruining the day, isn't it!?). Take it easy, Singaporeans.

Train service (in the "far" eastern) didn't resume till 12+pm - that's almost 7 hours!

Hilf mir.... :"(

I'm sad because of this stuck pixel on my Toshiba LCD... well I didn't notice it till yesterday. I saw this little cyan rectangle, about 2 pixels tall and 1 pixel wide. I pray it's not dead because then in no way can I remove/fix it. I have been trying all sort of ways to fix it but till now I still see it!!! :"(

It looks invisible in black/green/blue but on white or other coloured background, it just stuck out there. I can't help to look at it each time I'm on my lappy... arghh.

D-day

It's Monday!!!!! Minutes past midnight. I'm supposed to start my first day of work today, well that'll be in 8 more hours. Jesus, I should be in bed!

But I have been wanting to write, dying to write... and it didn't happen. So here I am now, doing a last minute entry just before end of my commitment-free days (non-working days). It is a good thing because I really enjoy the feeling of earning $ and having some to spend!

It has been a good weekend, in fact, very occupied. Fully utilised. I just feel like my working days have started since Friday.

Friday, I signed the deed to confirm the end of my 11am - 3am lifestyle, spent the late afternoon with ah Man (which happened to be his birthday just minutes ago! Happy Birdday!) and his friends. I found a petite Blythe doll and bought it at S$25 which is a steal (after seeing it retailing at $36.90 somewhere else).

Saturday, I had to wake up darn early for a medical check up followed by Borders' shopping which I ended up with a very happy buy. Well I'll introduce this book in another entry (yes, this has been what I wanted to write about too... so let me have a good read and I shall share more!). Oh, for lunch, I happened to chance by a Wanton Mee stall at Cuppage building (was actually heading for the Japanese Char siew rice - Joy/Pea, they don't have it anymore?!?!). The Wanton Mee turned out simply delicious (well, above average, not the best but yummy and cheap!), my plum juice was just as revitalising. Later in the evening, mum, sister and me went for Chinese New Year's goodies' shopping at NTUC, we bought over S$80!! So much chocolate, nuts, sweets, drinks... the usual we need for the coming February. Somehow, the anticipation isn't there anymore.

Sunday, I did so much cleaning and was sweating so much. I worked like a cow today. Cleaning, washing toys, laundry, vacuuming, changing sheets, wiping, clearing stuff, organising stuff. All because Chinese New Year is coming and at least 44 hours a week I'll be facing 4 walls inside a cubicle! So I better get things done. I still have some more to do, at least the hardest is over!

Done so much this weekend, now I hope I'll get some good sleep and be able to wake up at 7am. Time to hear the birds chirping... and resume walking that route to Suntec tower.

Differences

I used to think language isn't a barrier, that's a very naive thought. Coming back to that, body language can't replace real communication all the time. And till it was thoroughly tested on the last relationship I had, yes I admit language is a barrier.

You know what?

Even English language can have their own problems, the other time me and a kiwi ex-colleague were discussing how "thong" is used in some countries while others used "sandals" or "flip flop" or "slippers". While I was chatting to some Canadians recently, it made my blood boiled! Just because the way we use more British/American English here, there are some phrases totally left out of their Canadian English. Like knocking off, we mean we're done with work. They do not understand it at all! I hate explaining simple things, I guess I'm just not patient (I can't be a teacher!!).

Oh well, so people, watch out. Even though English is an international language, it has well diversified into their different cultures/localities.

2 jahre

2 years contract. Even though it isn't tying me down, but somehow I feel like it's a commitment. And I still haven't lost that phobia... the fear that I'm stuck and can't run away from it. Well, I'm talking about a job offer presented to me earlier today... In fact, I have not sent out any resume as I was waiting to see what was going to be offered to me. I have it now, but it's not the best... Actually not as good as I expected it to be. But it felt right, and maybe it will feel right?? I have been doing so many contracted jobs and even though this is another of those, it is 2 YEARS!

Can I see myself in it for 2 years?? Maybe. Time seems to pass so quickly, even my supervisor whom was there a year ago has left for greener pasture. And perhaps my 2 years will be over in another few blinks... and I have saved enough to do what I will like to do - study?

Life is a mystery but live it the way you're most happy with... because it might be too short - before you know it, it's gone!

No joke

MC King (蓝钦熹) has left us!

Jimmy Nah or better known as "MC King", a local comedian in Singapore has suddenly passed away. He was cremated yesterday. He's only 40 years old and said to be a very filial son and a likable character.

It happened very sudden and many came by and grieved for his loss.

What a start for the Rat year?! But his leaving has brought prosperity to those whom attended his funeral as the undertaker's phone number (displayed on a big banner) turned out to be the prize number on Sunday!

Der Eisbär

Der Eisbär reminds me of Der Bär. I miss Der Bär.

That's probably why I like this film, not because of the plot, the characters, the wonderful special effects... but because of Iorek Byrnison - the polar bear! I heard much controversy (link) this film has stirred among the religious groups, but well the viewers have themselves to decide about their own view/belief I guess.

Okay, besides the fantastic bear I like, Daemons actually make this film very interesting. Try the test on The Golden Compass website and you get one too! Mine turns out to be a lion, named Olin. Each person has a daemon by their side... what does it really do? What does dust do to the kids' daemon??

I was actually expecting the film to end (silly me) but turns out that it's like LOTR or any other films that comes in series. Oh damn, do I have to wait another year to watch the next one??? Someone told me the book is actually much better than the film, so I might do that instead... but ermm... when it comes to such novels, I can be pretty procrastinating.

I don't know the full story, so you better catch this yourself in the cinema... For the first of its series, The Golden Compass, I simply love the bears' fight and dear Lyra is so witty and adorable.

My rating: 3.5/5

Fabulous end to 2007

Oh my god, oh lord, oh heaven......

A year has again passed. 2008! I can't believe time flies, and undeniably all of us are just getting older without being acknowledged. Sad but true. I don't want to count the candles on my next birthday and not even to get reminded of how old I was on my last birthday!!

My December was well spent. You should have noticed it, since my blogging activity has suddenly ceased... I am back!! Well, I had a lovely + fabulous + incredible time with my girls. There is nothing, absolutely NOTHING compared to the joy and fun in those weeks. I don't know when we will all be reunited again, but however we're only a MSN window away from each other - that's the consolation!

Christmas 2007

We had an early girls' night out on a Wednesday. 4 girls in a hotel room, things can get pretty "randy" - not sure why I'm using that word but mmm... think "raunchy". LOL. Thanks to Angela, we all have a colorful head each and crazy Syndy and me wore it out on the streets! We're even being spotted in the 7-11 or was it Cheers? I hope that poor chap wasn't being scared by us!

I love the presents we gotten from each other - it comprises of all sort.
Syndy's - something practical and useful.
Angela's - something fun and wacky.
Lisi's - something appropriate and put into good use.
As for mine, I think I have picked something I thought it would suit each of them!

The manicure session (planned by me) was a success however my own fake nails turned out to be a flop when I accidentally lost two of them while out waiting at Zouk! (And well, it was only the starting of the night, shame!) Looks like I better keep my nails than using the fake ones!

The party didn't turn out as we expected... Ladies' night was unusually peaceful, the usual crowd had disappeared. Or have the rainy season made everyone stayed at home?? Everyone was Q-ing up at Zouk, and the rest of the places were too calm, we could smell the dead air! Sigh, anyhow the most important thing was the 4 of us had fun hanging out together!
