Today I finally stepped into the public pool again. I wanted to a month ago, then I fell sick. The last two weeks were far too rainy as well. It has been a good few months since I went to that pool. I had been using a few substitutes (friends' condo pools) but I guess it's time to go back to this again. As I walked there today, I noticed changes. They have pulled down the old Tampines sports complex, now it's an empty slot (guess they are rebuilding it) but it just looks odd. Like a piece missing from the jigsaw puzzle. I have never seen it so empty. I also realised despite a month of not swimming, I still have my good discipline (to finish XX laps within 30 minutes). I just wish it is that easy to apply this to anything else in life.
I have been hiding in my little cave for a while, occasionally poking my head out of the darkness to peep into the world. I'm not sure if I should thank technology, because without it, I wouldn't be able to be still talking to friends despite hiding in my cave. I still haven't found the path I want to take. I feel like I'm having a midlife crisis, I was just "talking" to a friend whom seems to be feeling the same as well. Well, these days, midlife crisis does come early (way much earlier). Perhaps I should google for the remedy on that tomorrow!

Picking up
A pat on my back. I finally finished writing the stories of my Japan trip. I hope my memory pillow works and I didn't forget any eventful incident. One more travel story to write, then my checklist will be all checked.
Time to get down to running a few other errands I have been putting off. It's about time to get myself a new mobile number, I have a love-hate relationship with that. I'm done being tied to M1, their service has been deteriorating as time goes by. I don't mind a new number but I hate the hassles that come with it. Change, how I like you and dislike you at the same time.
I have been looking on and off for work for a few weeks, in between detered from it by a bout of illness. It is about time to start looking seriously at it again. Like how I always look at it, it is about timing and luck too. I'm keeping my fingers crossed things will happen shortly!

Gimme change!
I'm a sucker for changes. When anyone around me encounters a change in their life, I am envious. Is it a disease or some kind of addiction?? I don't know.
My sister found a new job. And recently, a few people in the company left, one in less than 3 months, the other in less than 6 months. When things remain stagnant, I crave for changes. It's not that I am unhappy at my current place, but things are becoming too much of a routine, and it annoys me. Can all you people who are leading a routine life tell me how you do it??

Humans, fascinating
Yes, that's the word.
Look around, did you notice how people have changed over time? I like to cite some real life examples here... you can guess who that is, if you happen to be in my social circle (but don't ask me for the names!).
One carefree soul, who used to entertain me with her light-hearted nonsense... until life remold her. A melancholy soul, she worries and dispirits. She fusses over the details she used to overlook. She calculates to each penny she used to take lightly. We seem to have swapped our souls... we have taken each other life journey. We are still great friends because we complement each other. But I don't know how to revert her to who she was... for I am enjoying the her I have become. I hope one day she finds back her positivity which once filled her to the brim.
Crazy woman who wants to be Samantha Jones but secretly *deep inside* dying to have life of Charlotte... Finally, this woman is getting hitched. She sang many praises about the wonderful men she went out with. Now she sings too much complaint... unnecessary complaint that most women would happily switch their roles with her for it. Don't take life for granted;) She complains and complains and so often it does really get on my nerves. WOMAN, please know this is irritating! Haha. I love you because you're my friend, but please understand you can also be annoying at times haha.
The friendly, easy-going girl-next-door. She was chirpy, liked being alone, and almost had no temper. Nowadays her quick temper alarmed many of her friends on Facebook, her depressive mood swing is unpredictable like the London's weather... Her status updates are often too emotional and show how much attention she is craving for. She has changed, and how I miss that mellow soul!
Cute, bubbly and always helpful. She was my precious companion growing up. Now she often needs the nudging to even offer her help, gets edgy like a woman on PMS and lacks the motivation to get things done in life... I hope in some years, she will finally mature into a fine lady, just like good wine.
...
For sure, everyone has changed. So have I.

Not the same anymore
Time changes us, time changes everything...
It heals us, it wises us up, it ages us, it makes us realise...
Months ago, I felt emotionally stirred looking at his picture... Now I feel nauseous. Good or bad? I think it's a good sign. Time doesn't solve problems but it makes us look back and feel somewhat relieved. I don't know why too, perhaps they are telling us that everything that has happened are meant to.
That feeling no longer lingers inside me. It has dissolved, like a spoonful of honey circled into the mug of boiling water. It slowly warms me up as the sweetness slides down my throat.
...
I re- read some entries I wrote years ago and am amazed how different they are from what I am writing nowadays. I used to express my feelings more openly, and my affection. Today I am more guarded, more protective and probably more cautious of whatever I am posting on here (to the public). I definitely see myself growing up from all these years of blogging. Seasoned already.
...
Some things I picked up never change though:
1. Recycling every possible things
Sometimes my parents (and sisters) just don't understand why I am doing this, and they simply don't see how I have picked this up back in Germany. But now they are being influenced after my constant years of chucking them in the yellow recycling bags. I occasionally still pick things up from the bins to put them in the bags!
2. My favourite soft drink is Diet Coke
I used to dislike it but it's now my top few choices.
3. I still take pictures of anything & everything that caught my fancy
It's just me.
4. I enjoy taking risks and live an unpredictable life
It has began at age 22.
5. I have a love-hate relationship with my home country
I love it because I grew up here, I have friends and family. I hate it because it stops me from the life I want to seek because of obligations & responsibilities. I hate restrictions, rules and people whom call me selfish just because they are selfish (by inducing guilt when I want to pursue my independence).
6. I put my family first for now
After so many encounters I witnessed, family no doubt is always a very important source of support at any time of your life. You may hate someone, you might not be able to show your love for someone, you might not have the perfect family... but they will always be there for you. Every single day, I feel the love from my parents through the very little things they did for me.
7. My happiness doesn't depend on another being
Unlike the past, I always thought that someone else is needed to keep me happy. Isolation is a good time to discover how contented one can be.
8. The word "shy" is almost never used on me now
A deputy director of my previous company once casually remarked that I'm a "late-bloomer" after I was crowned the "Scrabble Champion" at the company's competition. You might wonder why? Everyone was amazed when I revealed my English was a grade C at 'O' levels, I just barely passed. But over the years, I proved my worth. I wrote. I write. I keep writing. But Scrabble is not a game of language, it's strategy as well as good memory (you've to memorize the 2 lettered combinations!). English matters but not first on priority. And I think he's right. I am a late-bloomer, I gradually found myself. If you meet me now and 10 years ago, you can tell the difference.
That's all for tonight... I'm feeling uncomfortable, still nauseous perhaps. That photo obviously doesn't make me feel good :p

Officially unemployed & proud of it :)
Another phase of my life has ended...
How many life "reboots" must I have? Maybe "reformatting" is a better word?? Geez, I'm feeling so geeky!
I just can't wait to have another change, monotonousness is death for me. When life becomes routine, it is a chore. I'm such a restless soul sometimes I wonder who can ever keep up with me. I need to do things, I need variety, I like fresh starts (I hate endings - irony, how do I have a new start without having an ending?? Right?)...
In a week's time, I'm going for a HOLIDAY!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah! Another new travel buddy, another new experience... This time, we are not flying budget!!! Jetstar has disappointed me a few times with their lack of hot food onboard, and now I rather pay a little more to have my stomach satisfied than starving on the flight! This time round, someone is going to serve hot food and free drinks!!
I have so much I want to blog that I can't think of them all now... So I'll slowly fill them in. Finally kicked myself in the bum and logged in to start writing, I hate procrastinating but (you know) you always have someone or something to put the blame on!!
My now ex-colleague just told me about the scam, the fortune-teller at Bugis temple apparently has cheated so many people (besides us). Well, it seems like something is true - the fact that we were so down on luck that we were even being conned!! But the good thing is that we never heed a word he said (luckily, I knew he was only bullshitting). Like I said, pay for sins! He'll soon have to pay his soon.

时辰到了! Time is right!
Remember my version of all the warning signals to leave a job?? Click here for refreshing the memory.
Below is what I found from a professional website:
Which is better? :))
Below is what I found from a professional website:
- Monday mornings are met with a sense of dread
- You snap at people at the office
- You feel frustrated and powerless in your position
- You use your allotted sick time for the year, in the first three months
- You secretly hope that the company will sink
- You plot ways to expose the company's unethical behaviour
- You come to work late, take long lunches and leave early
- You usually feel emotionally drained and exhausted after work
- You feel dumped on and taken advantage of
- You're regularly checking for higher paying positions
- You imagine yourself quitting
- The thought of being fired excites you
Which is better? :))
Morgen!

I said: Tomorrow I will exchange my freedom back!
And I said: Both work!
It is the time again, and I am certain that this is the right decision:)

A beer for me!
When was the last time I had a bottle of Heineken?
Last week's Monday, there was a business networking event, so I have been having quite a few beers:( (Even when I was sick, I was still drinking!!) Later on, a few glasses of red wine at my overnight stay in Orchid Country Club and a peach Sangria on last Saturday. How bad? Anyway, I really needed to wind down, relax and have a laugh with people... so it's all fine.
I met Marz after ages (months) and well things have changed. I was surprised he and his long-termed girlfriend aren't together anymore. Well, changes, changes. Good or bad. I have had many changes as well and things will never stop changing for me! I also met his friend, Bernard, and friend's friend, Simon... both very entertaining guys:)
I'm happy to turn in now, yawn (after alcohol). Good night my friends!

Exhausting... me
My K550i baby is hospitalized and will only be discharged on Monday.
Great Singapore Sale is coming to an end.. well a couple of weeks to go. Today will begin our last weekend before the GST in Singapore rises from 5% to 7%. All the Singaporeans must be doing the mad shopping. So today after work, I hooked up with my sister and we went ransacking through the stores with a huge "SALE" sign plastered on their window display. I got a dress, so did she. It was a promotion, buy 1st get the 2nd at 50%. Quite worthy! But I also realised my taste in clothes have been quite identical, this dress is similar to a top I got the last time at Pull & Bear!
Work.
2 weeks have since passed, like blink of the eyes. I couldn't remember much, however I recall my tiring nights with lacking sleep. I remember my phone was sick and it mattered more. I was given a few assignments and they sure seemed tough to me as this job is still relatively new to me. I was talking to Chris, a friend... about it - about my thoughts about moving into a niche market (UI design) or shall I remain with my web/online design-marketing-communications. This is a major decision, because if I do move into a new specialized area, I probably wouldn't have an easier chance to go back to what I was doing before anymore.

Too many choices isn't a good choice
I fear that I don't have a choice a lot of the time... and I prayed that I will now get many choices and be able to pick the best out of them all. And...
It is true now I do have a choice. Unlike the previous time, I was forced under circumstances to pick the only choice, or well the wiser choice. My 11 job applications turned out well indeed; >50% calls rate, however only 25% of the 11 is working out. And of cos, I don't have that many to choose from.
I think I have made a decision... and this is going to be BIG!
Actually, you know what??? In life, sometimes you take the unexpected route and you turn out happier... than you think you would be. Like for my current job, after the interview, I didn't think I was going to get it... but hey the 6 months here, I can say it's one of the best time I have while working! And the 1 hour long interview I had recently, the same goes for it. I felt being grilled. Burnt. At the end of it, I left with diminishing hope that my life would never be in that kind of environment. Now I'm selected, I should be happy, isn't it!
My heart says,"Go with it, go with it... Run..."

A good designer is selfless
How many people i.e. designers have learnt that???
Those whom probably did I guess are working for Adobe;) Well I do think that even the Adobe evangelists must have kept some software secrets to themselves, which would only be revealed in the next upcoming version of the software. That's how CS jumps so fast to CS3 now in a few years!
A lot of good artists are selfish, well arts is supposed to be abstract and I guess the creator has the rights to keep their idea their own, original. But we all have seen some good artists or designers sharing their tips, writing up tutorials... That's the way to go, knowledge are meant to be passed around or shared. Like a saying, if you die, you can't carry the money to the coffin, so does it apply to the knowledge you have been secretly burying at the back of your head.
Coming to this, what sparked me off?? I guess, this job I have applied, it's named User Interface Designer. To design products meant for consumers' usage, there's this very basic goal: To make it user-friendly and enhance the user experience (like the boss said so!). And to do that, you have to put yourself in their shoes, you think for the other person (what does he/she wants or expects how the product works). Somehow I believe the designer has to be one very considerate person, not in just designing but in all aspects of life to be able to do a good job. Hehehee, I guess I fit the bill (far too considerate for people's feelings)... Anyway, this is a very challenging job and very tough one I think!

Life is how you make it interesting
6 months since I have started work at Suntec and I've devised a few ways of getting to work (as in from the MRT station to my office tower that usually takes up to 15 minutes)... Routine does bore me, and I need to find some excitment. I seek them!
(A) On a lazy day or an awful shoes' day, there's always the Shuttle Service from City Hall
(B) Walk along Nicoll Highway from Bugis, enjoy the carbon monoxide suicide trail
(C) Walk through Shaw Tower from Bugis, up and down the overhead bridge, this is meant for the physically fit and those with high endurance for warm morning walk
(D) Walk through City Link for sheltered air-conditioned comfort but lots of time-consuming turns
For more Vitamin D3, besides option (B). here's another few methods.
(E) From City Hall, you can
1. walk through Raffles City, exit at the door
a. nearest to Raffles Plaza, half air-conditioned, half sunny walk
b. nearest to Swissotel, still air-conditioned but more sunny walk
2. exit at the door on the right after ascending from escalator (before you even pass through Raffles City or Starbucks), a good sunny walk
If exit from option 1.
c. cross towards Raffles Hotel, across another 3 more routes straight ahead towards Suntec City, enjoy the construction going on by the road
d. cross 2 roads straight ahead (right amid of a few road constructions) before coming to one on the left and re-join the people from option c., however risk your head being hit by some dangerous object swinging up there! (believe me, this one is at least 1 traffic light faster due to the green light timing, that is if you walk briskly like me)
If exit from option 2., coming before the next zebra crossing, you can choose
e. turn left, walk along the Taxi stand outside Swissotel to catch a sight of business men in suits Q-ing up for taxis and then resume to the above c. or d. option
f. cross zebra crossing and one more road, you head towards Esplanade but turn left at the end (because there's no crossing on the main road) and you get to resume to end of route d.
g. cross zebra and one more road, turn left and walk along the traffic before you resume to mid of route d., didn't really like this route because you get car drivers whom stopped at the traffic staring at your bum!
Isn't it amazing that some people take one route for their whole timespan they are at their job, while nutty people like me are always coming up at new ideas. Uuummm... I shall not continue on the return trip from work as I usually do a lot of de-tour (to Marina Square or Millenia Walk or even Bugis), but one tip for people working at Suntec Towers. If the shuttle bus from Suntec is too crowded, try getting the one at Millenia ;)
By the way I have another silly thought, does one person who walk under the sun and out on the road burns more calories than someone who rather takes the sheltered route through City Link???

a. nearest to Raffles Plaza, half air-conditioned, half sunny walk
b. nearest to Swissotel, still air-conditioned but more sunny walk
2. exit at the door on the right after ascending from escalator (before you even pass through Raffles City or Starbucks), a good sunny walk

Two of the world's ends
2 calls came in today...
I managed to get hold of the person whom rang me on Friday which we had missed each other thrice!! He sounds really nice and helpful and I keep my fingers crossed to be shortlisted for this job, which happens to be a really GOOD company as well (with that, I mean the employee/staff welfare).
The other call made me totally fuming, over the conversation, the agent actually reduced the offered salary (which was advertised) to 20-30% lesser. Hey, I'm not an idiot, if you offered that salary range on the job advertisement, but am only now willingly to pay me so much lesser (than the minimum end of that range), where does the extra 20-30% goes to?? Of course, without a doubt, to the job agency. I really despise such dishonest acts, so I told her, I've got better offers coming at me!

La la la... hier ich komme
Finally I sent out job application #10, whooo... Wondering if I should feel relieved or anxious?? Relieved and hopeful that one of 10 might work out or anxious that I have sent 10 and nothing is still on my plate yet. Just as I am about to take a break from my active mouse-clicking search, I have 2 missed calls while I was away from my desk. Heeeee... my 2nd job interview (from my job application #01) is coming up! And it's a German Company, exciting!
I think I'm hitting Topshop in a happy mood, oh no!

Goodiessss, gooniesssss
Sister got home slightly past midnight (which is literally today) with a few bags of shopping. Who can resist not buying in Bangkok, considering a bag now at Bugis Street can easily come up to $59.90! Anyway, she didn't splurge as much as I (and my whole family) would have thought so. It was a huge relief, as our tiny room can no longer accommodate dozens of new bags/clothes. She bought quite a few things for herself, my little sister and I each got a "Food Packaging" bag, which is pretty "in" and cool. I think they will be a hit if I am to import and sell them down Covent Garden in London:) I found the pictures online;))

Jobs. No luck. I have so far sent out 8 applications. 4 no replies. 4 rang me up. However, it is still not coming. Out of 8, 1 interview so far. 3 which rang me are job agencies (either to go down for a chat or a brief phone interview), they have sent to the clients on my behalf and I am waiting............... It has become quite annoying and tiring that I stopped searching for a couple of days. No one said job hunting is easy, right? So I'm back on and looking... and looking... and looking! I can only keep my fingers crossed that the next one I hold on to will be something challenging and what I have been wanting to do - Web advertising/E-marketing!

Waiting for the green light
I was told I looked "more refreshed" coming back to work after my Hong Kong trip... and I begin to think that traveling has become an addiction. If I am allowed no holiday for a couple of months, my whole world seems to be hovered with dark clouds. Hong Kong definitely wasn't enough, I thought a good 4 days would do it, but it passed by quicker than the new French LGV Est européenne train. I am already hoping to go somewhere next, but nowhere is definite as yet.
Boss has been asking me Qs & Qs on whether I have sent my resume, whether I get any interviews coming up and how's my job search going... At times, I felt he is even more anxious than me. Does he want me to stay?? We had a discussion and I have decided not to renew the contract unless a permanent position that does something different is being offered.
Since my previous job, I have developed a limit to enduring a job. If I get bored, easily frustrated, and bothered about the tasks I am doing, then my light red is already blinking. If I start to ask myself why are my weekends too short and hate waking up in the morning, this red light is blinking real fast. If I come into work and take forever to open up my Lotus notes because I dread receiving the work emails... it is telling me something!! The red light is turning yellow and very soon green, it's time to GO!!!!!!

Dear Boss, I hope you wouldn't read
You know it's time to leave your job when...
- a simple task seems like a chore
- going to the restroom is more enjoyable than sitting in front of the PC
- punctuality applies to knocking off than starting the day
- playing Sudoku is less a torture than using Excel
- using Words makes you even more like editing your resume/CV
- you say "yes" to everything not knowing what they are babbling about
- the hole-puncher becomes your best friend and a source to release stress
- you dress according to your mood, and recently it's been all black (exceptions - Fridays)
- you rather wear the painful heels so they make you walk slower to work
- food is on your mind all the time (what to eat for lunch, what to eat for dinner, what to eat tomorrow, should I get Royce chocolate - if so, which one?)
- you stay up late on Sunday night, wishing Monday will never arrive
- you have zits and it's all because of work (good excuse, right)
- sitting among a bunch of bores do not bother you anymore

Switch, please
As the days go by, I'm more convinced I'll be out of this job. I loved what I was doing, I was even eager about every single thing that was going to happen or had happened. But 4 months passed, as I'm counting down to the end of my contract, I'm also very encouraged to leave. Most of the people in the team travel for business/work, they go to many places. But I have to sit down here in my cubicle, sorting out documents and helping to support them. It isn't very satisfying. If a degree can do so much difference, then the Government sector really sucks because of how much emphasis they place on it. A new place shall awaits me...

。。if only I could smell Tommy's nose now.
今早试了Caffe' con Cioccolato,味道还真不错!比起Latte con Cioccolato,它更像咖啡。可能天气冷的关系,我现象很想喝一杯热Cioccolato!!!
