Winter week starts on Monday

Supposed to write a "Monday afternoon danger" becaue it was Monday again when I encountered a scary looking sky. But it slipped off my mind... and I can't seem to be able to recall the details now. Sorry about it, I wish I have recorded that down. Perhaps I can try a very short one here.

1630 in the afternoon. Winter. It resembles London in winter time or 2000 Singapore time. Dark, gray and gloomy. Without any motion in the air, without a soul on the street, I looked out the window only to watch the cars stationary on the roads. The man is green and hasn't blinked. Like a dead town, the world has ended, I feel the silence and a sense of insecurity. Something is going to happen. Like my mood that Monday afternoon, a lighting might strike anytime. The clouds so thick I am under their blanket, shielding me from something hot scorching above. I know somehow I am safe.

I forgot it's still winter

Rain, O rain in Singapore has stopped, it doesn't feel cold, there is winter no more... (sound like a song eh)

I suddenly am reminded it's still dark gloomy winter in London, when a friend said she'll be going ice-skating. Oh yes, it's still cold. Still cold enough to freeze the rink outside. It is only when friends told me they still need their warm clothes and big coats that I still remember that winter is not over yet. I'm in summer mood... or maybe spring, fresh out from the cold, getting a little warmed up.

I like Mozilla Firefox because they restore my session when my computer crashed! I like wearing my spectacles and look geeky. I like going on dates that I don't expect anything out of it, just a good laugh. I like it when I have to be so polite, saying 'thank you' (at least) twice a day x 5 working days x 6 months - record-breaking. I like it now when I feel so happy, so comfortable with myself and my life. My heart tickles when the Japanese addresses me with the "your name-san". I enjoy my short walks to the printer and pantry, peeping into people's cubicles, looking for rubbish to be add on to my desk... lalalaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

A 'White''' X-m-a-s

Imagine the beautiful white snow falling outside the window... you watch as the flakes drift about in the air before it lands on the warm ground and melts away... They seem like little insects flying all over, but they gave your skin such a tickle that you will shiver with its tenderness. You hold out your hands hoping to collect enough for a little snowball, those little flakes quickly condense with your warmth and quickly enough you are infested with his coldness. As your hands fondle the white snow laying all over, they are soon stinging from the numbness. Your poor fingers feel like they will break apart from that tightness, yet your little fanaticism has kept you going... and going.... and

... daaaa.....ng...

Guess what...

It snowed today... just after I was complaining in the last entry. It is not the first encounter with snow, but this time it wasn't brief. Not just a minute nor just a passing moment. It was snowing exactly for some time. It is beautiful!!

Fortunately, we have a small balcony where I can always dash out for a shower in the flakes. For a lot of people in Singapore whom have not encountered snow, they are little "ice flakes". Remember those nice snowflake "design" you always encounter as a christmas font or an ornament, just like the one I show below... If you carefully examine one that falls on you, you can see that it looks exactly like it. How magical*********************

It is snowing, it is snowing, it is snowing, it is snowing... hurrrayyyyyyyy.... YES,YES,YES!!! Wooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.....

Describe a bad winter day

The wind is blowing hard, the trees swaying like they are dancing... I can hear the howling through the thick window panels that are shielding me from the horrible cold. The pot of plant in the balcony that I pity, is trembling like a nude beggar in the street. So defenseless. The currents in the water surging like they can sweep you along effortlessly. I fear to stand like those trees with the wind piercing into my face, the coldness seeping through every leakage in my layered clothing. It rained so hard that you could hear those splattering against the glass. I can't believe how nice and warm it is to be in a house now, sitting by the heater and sipping hot tea.

The sky is so blue, yet the wind is killing, the christmas songs are singing yet the Santa is not here, the tea is turning cold yet I am still feeling cold, it is winter yet why isn't it snowing!!!!!!!!!!

What is winter without snow*

Winter makes me more...
Lazy and so...
I am getting fat...
Because I get too hungry...
And am always inactive...
It also makes me moody...
And very cold...
I feel so restless...
And often sleepy...
I'm looking more pale...
Getting more domesticated...
Becoming too geeky...
Ah, I'm thirsty for more...
Now I'm simply Boh chup! - Maybe its time for bed!

December wisher

The temperature in Singapore has fallen to a minimum of 24 degrees, it is our "winter" season. No flakes of snow, supposedly the winter rain is here. Still, you wouldn't see much people covering in coats or sweaters. Having experienced a colder spring in London, I've began to like cooler weather. Heat just melts me at a rapid rate like an exposed ice cube. December weather will most likely be the same, just right for Xmas. It's a pity Singapore will never snow... I'm waiting for an opportunity to spend a white Xmas someday.

I've taken 9 days off next month. One week I'm flying to Bangkok, my third trip out of the country. It is somehow weird, I'm not traveling with my family or friends. But two cousins and an uncle. I'm looking forward to the unexpected, traveling with new people. Another stretch of period will be from Christmas day till New year day. I made a quick count and there should be only 13 working days for me. Two weeks. It does seem short since I'll not be in the office for over 3 weeks till 2004. I've a surprise present ready a resignation letter, which I'm still pondering if I should make it as a Christmas present.

For the last two years, we have made it a habit of exchanging Xmas presents among friends and family. Though it's more of giving when it comes to my family, I'm still asserting my parents should not live their life through only traditional Chinese values. Home parties are not very common practices here, but I'd like to see it as a norm sometimes.

I'm still anticipating for a call, to collect my newly custom made pink ethnic blouse...
