It's wellies day
Today it's the first time my wellies walk in the rain and streets of Singapore since I bought it. It was brought here recently by my best mate as I shipped them to her from Amazon. I have walked in them in the United Kingdom... But trust me when I say they're not the best for shopping. The wellies tend to be a bit more stiff to walk in, heavy and not the most comfortable when you have stairs to climb. I shopped in them one day and fortunately I bought a pair of shoes that day and I could change into them... My feet were seriously screaming for help after 6 hours!!! These wellies sure come in handy for rainy days as the rain has apparently killed a few pairs of shoes before. So happy wellington day!

Shoes are the worst invention!
I hate shoes. I want to be barefooted. Why does the world make everyone wear shoes???? Who did? I just wish the ground is a piece of grassland with soft white sand and clear blue water on the other end, if life is only that simple :)

It's gonna be a good good day!
Tomorrow (or actually later today) is my first day of school... (just as BS would describe it). Well, it should be bedtime now but I guess I need to blog about the excitement before it's gone!
I have done tonnes of preparation, yet I still think it's not enough. I was trying out the clothes and then I realised I haven't had a pair of shoes that would go with anything and everything! I need new pants and skirts, and I didn't manage to get those recently except quite a couple of new tops. I have some from many years back (which are likely to go to donation bins), and some recently that aren't very appropriate. I dug out clothes that I kept, some for ages, and ironed enough to last me at least 2 weeks! I took out the notebook which I bought months ago, and I knew it would come in handy one day, tomorrow is that day. I also got myself a silk shirt from British India the other day after the 1st interview and promised to wear it on the first day of my new job. I bought myself a Christmas Starbucks tumbler and am very eager to have it on my desk soon!
I am very curious how things will go tomorrow. But somehow I have a good feeling that this time round this is going to be a good journey. You know the phrase "Better late than never!" and this is exactly how I feel. I gotta admit I am a late bloomer, everything better comes late for me... Like how crappy my English was, and now it is a world difference, not the best but it's a world apart. And to think that I could top the Scrabble competition at my ex-company competition, no one believed my English was really bad. The same goes for the men I have met, the horrible ones that I blindly believed were the best, and I am so glad I see things differently now. I am very certain now, which are the ones to avoid and what are the types I do want to keep by my side :)
On the side note...
Goodbye Sneakers.
Today I also donated a pair of sneakers I bought from London many years back, still in excellent condition, but I bought it on impulse and it turned out to be too tight. Running Lab at Tampines One is actually collecting them for The Salvation Army, in return they will give you a S$50 voucher for purchase of running shoes (the promotion is till end of November). I didn't want the voucher as I don't need any running shoes, but it feels good to know the shoes will be put to good use at least. So if you have any old running shoes/sneakers you want to throw, you know where to go now!

New house for my feet
I'm sad... because I have to bid farewell to my favourite heels. I have tried so many times to salvage it by bringing to the cobbler, but still it is time to let it go. If it has chosen to leave me, what more can I do. :'(But like the saying goes... 旧的不去,新的不来!If the old ones do not go, the new ones won't come (literal translation sux, lol). My brain is already switched off at this hour, so just close one eye on this ;)
So this post is dedicated to my beloved nth favourite heels... the last memorable one being a pair of Bata heels which made me a superwoman, I could run in them! This being my simple-and-can-match-all pair, thanks you URS - first time I really love shoes from them anyway. And to end this off, I shall introduce the new replacement... the bold and stylish from Charles & Keith (not really my 1st choice but just coincidentally fell in love with this)!

Shoe-wrecking, and how to survive it!
I am a shoe-wrecker...
Shoe-wrecking can be nerve-wracking. Seriously.
This is the... nth time my shoes broke/tore/split/whatever. Okay, it happened again yesterday, arrghh. I have so much countless experience that I decided it is time I should share some tips on how to save your day, in fact your face too. Or even your poor feet.
Shoe-wrecking situations & solutions (my experience and your possibility):
1. Someone stepped on the back of your heels, just as coincidentally it happily falls into the "gap" between the mrt ground and train.
Demand payment, at least $10 more than the cost of your shoes or if you're not embarrassed by the passer-by since you're already embarrassed enough, ask for twice the amount!! Alternatively, ask the culprit to get you a pair of shoes from the nearest shop (bit unreliable) or inform train staff to retrieve shoe if still intact.
((EDITED 20/12/06)) Forgot to talk about the real solution thereafter. I guess you have to go barefooted and then take a cab home (can't imagine walking on the road or taking a bus?). Or get someone to bring/buy you shoes.
I'd chose the first choice, since it once happened and fortunately that poor guy was too guilty and insisted on paying me.
2. Shoes disintegrated after you left home and walked about 1km.
Get help, ring anyone at home to bring you another pair. Or if it's still in walking condition (before it reaches the final stage), make your way home in the quickest but most gentle manner.
My old running shoes had this problem, the sole came off, soon you see all the bits falling apart, like powder!
3. Shoes split open or tore when you're out (at work or in public).
This scenario is the worst, but it greatly depends on how bad the condition of your shoe(s) is in. It always help to have a pair of slipper in the office (now you know why!!). Here we talk about a few different level of damage/wreckage:

- Covered shoe's mouth/body split open.
Try stapling, if you're in the office. If you're out and nowhere near stationary, look for "sticky" options in your bag. Like price tag, stamp (the sticker sort) or even Handsaplast (I tried this and was praying no one was looking at my "plastered" shoes). Next, with this temporaily help, find the nearest shoe shop, get a cheap substitute, or if you want a better lasting pair, shop carefully. - Flats/sandals similar to flip-flop with its center strap/support snapped.
I'm afraid you have to do floor-dragging till you find a nearest shoe store or hopefully someone is kind enough to bring you a pair. - Heel(s) broke.
Try breaking the other pair, and make do with flats for the time being. Next, find the nearest shoe shop, get a cheap substitute, or if you want a better lasting pair, shop carefully. - Heels with strap(s) that snapped.
Happened to me yesterday. I was almost frantic when I couldn't find any Handsaplast in my wallet. Don't worry, I found a new alternative. Hair rubber band! Girls with short hair, no harm carrying some. I managed to secure the base of the heels to my feet with my hair band and walked all the way across the road to the mall to get a new pair. Imagine having to drag one feet across the road?? Jesus.

That once in a blue moon shopping mood
The time has come.
Not too sure if it's an accumulation of the stress and unhappiness I've had earlier the week at work, now I need some retail therapy. The Great Singapore Sale ends this weekend, and so far I have not really gone on a shopping spree except for things that I needed.
Like when I have to throw a pair of shoes, usually I get a similar substitute because it's something I'm so used to wearing it so often. So I bought a pair of "ballet" alike shoes, which is silver and quite comfortable (I hope it doesn't hurt). And most importantly, it's FLAT!!! I actually spotted one in ALDO, but sadly the last pair was 4 sizes bigger! ARghh....
Also I bought myself a Happy Meal today, not to make myself happier but my colleagues have started this Happy Meal toy collection thing going in the office. I'm tempted, it's the set of the Ronald Mc Donald guys with their "shaky" heads. But the Happy Meal seems healthier than the normal set meals, because we can have salad, corns, fruits and yoghurt instead and no compulsory choice of soft drink!! 3 more to come :))) I still remember I had Happy Meal when I was back in London or Germany, I'm quite a big kid I suppose.
A pokka dots blue spagetti and a "dotty" laced white skirt. My rewards for the day. I'm quite pleased with the purchase because it only costs me $50 for everything plus my Happy Meal. Much cheaper than shopping in europe I guess...
Talking about this... I've made myself a bag from a fancy tee that I bought in Thailand which couldn't fit me. I like arts & craft. Here's a picture of my creation... not sure what I should name it. Maybe I can make such bags and sell? Hand-made!!

My beloved, it's gone :(((((((((
My dearest, most cherished shoes is torn :"(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
It's snow white, with a little flower on each. Soft. Comfortable. Like a pair of ballet shoes, I can almost dance on its tip. Yet, after being with me for almost 2 years, it has finally reached the end of its very short life. I brought them with me to London, it was the one I wore most, even to the backpacking trips I had it with me. I've been searching high and low for an identical one but couldn't find any... As it tears as the days goes by, it really hurts to see. First the sole was gone, so I replaced it with the soles of my old Adidas (also my favourite pair of Adidas shoes which I had to leave behind in London after meeting its end). I see its surface so crumpled and wrinkled, yet I didn't expect today would be its last day :(((( A hole on the right pair has given my toe a little breathing space!! *sobs*

Mary Jane Pink Leather
A feminine and sassy dress pump!
The blog title - those are the description of my "glass slippers" on its box. Black/white shoe box with an image of a dog, strings through it to make it hold like a paper bag. If you want to take a look at it online, click here. I can't help saying all the shoes from this brand are beautifully created - they have a theme. Check out Irregular Choice on internet (e.g. Zappo or even ebay), and you see its variety - did I see "free shipping" when you order (I must say I'm not sure where it applies to, might be USA only).
The black version (not with pink flowers but purple). Oh yes, this was initially the one I saw and thought I wanted to get... till I tried the pink one on! Groovy, I can't help liking it so much more. Anyway thinking about the cost, I reckon black is too common, I need a refreshing one for such a price! And I just spotted this online (but not in the store), click here. Pretty too eh?
p/s: I must say I'm not a shopping queen!!! My landlord says I'm one as he saw me buying a couple of things this week. He must see my girl friends back home before he says that eh!! Heheh, time to keep the card in the wallet! Woo..

I don't have a good year with shoes
4th pair damaged. And my prediction of the 4th pair is right... but sooner than I have expected.

Walking a long way
3 pairs of shoes gone in two weeks... this shows how devastating the situation is. Two pairs of white and my favourite black heels. I've got the replacement for black heels as its a necessity for every woman I reckon. I can't believe the bad luck on my shoes. I've just got a replacement for the two pairs of white, a gray one. I'm foreseeing another at home is meeting its doom soon. Maybe my shoes are that old, or am I too rough with them, or they are just not durable enough...

I am too fat, must be!
My heels broke, on my way to work. Like when a car breaks down... And its not the first time my shoes break down. This has happened to me a couple of times, and I'm starting to get the idea of how important GOOD shoes are. They last you longer than average pair of shoes and get you complete a longer distance.
