Be your own Santa this Christmas!

Christmas is a few days away... and suddenly my days are packed with lunch appointments. Out of nowhere. I can't meet most of the people I like to see, and so it shall continue into the new year. Today I tried to accomodate meeting two persons but didn't quite work out well, with only the lunch hour to spare.

The boss will be away but he has took the team to an early Christmas lunch filled with thin crusty pizzas. Boss called himself a pizza-monster, and he had 9 slices! Wooohoo. I had 5, came up 3rd in my team of 6, felt very guilty afterwards. It didn't help when he surprised us with adorable Santa and Snowman cupcakes. There's continous supply of chocolates and treats in the office from our business associates - the boss always brings them up for us.

Giving makes one feel very good, doncha think? Like the past years, I would pack small bags of chocolates, sweets and cookies to give away. I also gifted my new lunch buddy at work a small gift, it wasn't an exchange... Today I met my primary school friend for lunch and passed her a small gift too. She sure was surprised. I think surprises are always nice! I have got my surprises too! Thanks Ah man for making the way down to my office with a little red box, and when I opened it, I was delighted - it's packed with DOMO kun stuff! There's also a Santa in the office, making way to everyone's desks distributing little tiny bags, each with Ovalteenies, a chupa chupa & marshmallow. I don't know him, and I don't think he knows everyone, but I guess it's the season of giving... you know.

I just bought one over lunch, my 2nd McDonald's meal this month, I feel quite disgusted, LOL. Actually, it's not too bad since I quite like the fish fillet... so to lessen my own guilt, I got salt-free fries and diet-coke :) Hah. The first time I had lunch there, I saw Grimace, the purple bear, so I told myself I shall visit when they sell Ronald McDonald (which starts today!). I missed the Hamburlger which is also very adorable. The money also helps one of my good friends' daughter whom is benefitting from the charity, she was staying at the Ronald McDonald House when her daughter was undergoing clinical trial in New York. By the way, you don't have to eat there to buy this bear, you can just walk in and make a meal-free purchase.

好一个汉堡！What a burger!

Despite the very average reviews I have read on people's blog... I am very happy that I've made the decision to visit The Hand Burger @ Raffles City basement. Thanks to BS for the little birthday treat.
They did a wonderful job, they did me a wonderful dinner. Delicious tea-smoked duck burger that not only looked good and tasted less sinful... and was accompanied by crispy juicy fries that made a very good starter. The lemonade mint I ordered was excellent, I love lemonade as much as I love mint, so it was a good refreshing combination. The only thing is it's too icy, and I get lots of mint bits left in the ice at the end... should have a "lemonade" refill on the side, that would be marvellous.

The burgers are pretty affordable, taking into account how nicely they presented the food and the prompt service. BS's tandoori chicken burger order was delayed probably due to a mistake in the order but it came soon enough to tend to his starving stomach - so all is good!

By the way, the chicken burgers tend to look huge, they seem very generous with the chicken!

Less than 45 minutes, I'll be catching Spiderman 3... It's not the first time I felt a sudden urge or desire to watch a movie and I just bought the ticket within the next minutes. I enjoy such spontaneity and must be my 4th or 5th time doing it alone since. It never felt odd to be a loner in the cinema, afterall when you watch a show, you usually don't talk to one another... doesn't make a big difference to have a friend sitting next to you. (p.s. will update review soon)

The keropok man is at the door of my office, and this is bad, because these people tend to "psycho" you into buying, okay or maybe humans are just too easily tempted... If you do not understand the malay word keropok, here's an explanation I found. I bought the fish crackers, thinking my mum would loved that! OK, even on an average working day I can spend up to $15 a day... this is where all the hard earned money is vanishing to:(

The Carl's Jr.'s Famous Star burger is still in my stomach since I had it at 230pm... I was so hungry by then that I nearly ordered it as "Famous Five", no idea how that came to my head though. Why five?? My mind seems to think in numbers... I normally don't do big burgers and fastfood burgers, I guess this has to be an exception as I was starving! Sigh, read here how unhealthy one big burger can be. Time to keep weight in check.

Botak Jones Burger!

Actually had this a couple of weeks ago... at the AMK coffeeshop with my now ex-colleagues.

** Well, blog-city is said to have given us some free space for files, so I'm testing it now! Uploaded a picture successfully and well I even saw we can upload MP3~ Mmmm... thanks Blog-city. However, I have to see how much space we are given each... carefully utilise! **

Oh by the way, Botak Jones is cheap and affordable for its American fast food. The beef patty is thick, juicy and pretty well done, I almost wanted to compare it to Burger King's. Ah, but well, try for yourself!! The fries are peppered with chilli powder - something different? The long waiting time is definitely worthy and will be compensated with this mouth-watering infamous burger. Overall, my verdict is thumbs up!

Mozzarella Melt

I finally stepped into Burger King again. I've been anti-fastfood for months, I think I've been depriving myself too much from meat after going through days with only sandwiches & biscuits. I had a headache on my way home last night. Never was my head spinning from starving, I felt I could faint anytime if my legs gave way. So I decided I should indulge in a full Mozzarella Melt set meal - not the shrinking BK coupon version. Yes, I've been eyeing on it for a while!

I ate alone. Sitting by the window, for once I'm going to be this observer others have already done so by eating at the very same spot. And having avoided BK for such a long time, the meal do looked huge!! I was scribbling on my notebook, taking down things for my coming big trip. I get stares from old expats sitting diagonally across me; stares that are telling me "you looked like you're alone"! I wasn't paying them attention, continuing my observing outside that window panel, at the same time jotting down my list.

Just as I wrote down point 8 on the pad, it was him. The one I'm avoiding, I shouldn't be surprised because it's a usual place for lunch in this area. Even we are separated by an inch thick glass wall plus he was over 5 metres away, I was in a panic for few seconds. I realised he didn't notice me, so it was good. I watched him walked away with his colleagues chattering along the way.

Yesterday my blog has an unusual high no. of hits compared to the normal weekdays... I'm suspicious of someone in my Co. has spotted this url when J came over my desk and briefly spoke about work.. Well, whatever, as long as I still do what I ought to at work?! Maybe I'm wrong, if that's the case - it's world peace :)
