The praying panda is a killer

Panda joss-stick is sweeping the internet...

I realised I had the MSN emoticon of that panda with joss-stick, immediately this morning I on my PC and deleted it away after my sister warned me of it. Actually, after reading about the virus, I think the MSN emoticon doesn't work like the virus, the virus only renders all the EXE files to that icon (panda).

Quoted from http://www.sophos.com
"The virus, known as Fujacks-I and Fujacks-J (also called worm.whboy in some media reports), was already detected proactively by Sophos's behavioral genotype technology as Mal/Packer.

Although the Shanghai Daily story reports that all infections have so far been on Chinese-language versions of Windows, this is not a limitation of Fujacks. The virus will run and spread on English language Windows, too. Indeed, Fujacks can spread rapidly across an infected PC because it is a parasitic virus, using existing EXE files as hosts to infect. This means that a single PC may end up with hundreds of copies of the virus on it.

Additionally, Fujacks spreads to network shares and onto removable disk devices such as USB keys, music players and cameras. Fujacks creates a hidden AUTORUN file on removable devices, in the hope of spreading the virus automatically when an infected device is inserted into another PC."

Feet itch...

Sigh. My holiday to HK in 1st week of April is not coming true, my boss just rejected my off days. Sigh. I have expected it, I saw an event or two just colliding on the same week, but I thought I would still try. Sigh, sigh. Now I just have to re-schedule it to later. I hate the planning... but without planning, I can't go on a proper holiday when I'm working. Sometimes doing a whole year of travels might be the next best thing!!! I will want to buy a round-the-world ticket and do that!! When, when when... hopefully I find someone really cool to do that with;) Fab 4, anyone??

# meine Schwester ist einundzwanzig

Happy RETRO birthday, SISTER, you're LITTLE no MORE!!

Ouch, ouch... ouch!

Friday lunch time, I felt an impulse to have my ears pierced... Unfortunately I got too carried away with work and it slipped off my mind totally. Right after a busy, superb busy afternoon, I finally got off work... I was so determined to do my ear-piercing, so I hunted down the only jewellery shop in the mall that provides piercing service.

The salesman (cum man-who-does-the-piercing) was very friendly, he talked the whole time so I didn't have to think about the process. Actually I wasn't afraid, having done it twice and having infections twice, finally I gathered up enough courage to go for the 3rd time. My 3rd time ear piercing! He recently bought a new bottle of anaesthesia, and I am his first customer to be tested on as they never done that in the past. So well, it did freeze my ear lobes for some seconds, then I didn't think it helps much anymore.

And...... he did it! My right ear hole was bit slanted (I think my last piercing was too, as he followed the same marking). But I couldn't care less, I just wanted a pair of presentable ear holes, ha... Ok, I forgive him... LOL. So now, yes, I have to keep the studs on for 3 months! I hope, no more infections. *fingers crossed*

During payment, he noted my name on my card and then he said,"So your name is Trixy, do you trick?" I said,"Yes, only on Halloween!!"

Boycott education fees

Uummmm after looking through the Boycotting photos (©Patrick G. Stößer) in Germany, you can't help but... think those policemen (polizei) are so cute/cool!! Hehe, actually I meant you'd go thinking why do we have to pay for education.

Education is a right isn't it. Sometimes I think about that too in Singapore. Though it is tried to make possible with government grant and bank loan, still how many of us are working to pay them off in future. Why is education not free! And why have the companies and government placed emphasis/favouritism on people with a degree education - whom will automatically be paid higher! Even if scholarships are provided, only the top students are getting them... University education should be made affordable without creating a financial burden to us or our parents, and even be a worrying issue for our future kids. Talking about this, I'm thinking of taking NSW when it's ready... but since it's an australian university, I'm not so sure how much SG government is subsidizing.

短暂还是永恒??你选那个?

Short-lived or forever, which do you choose?

There are things that can last you a lifetime, but the quality can be bad or so-so. But if there are a lot of things that are short-termed but filled with quality (i.e. a much happier time), would you rather take them?

I think I would and I will. Life can be short, how long is a lifetime?? It varies. If you look for someone who can be your life partner, and there's so much qualities you look for in him/her, you may never find that perfect person. I think life is imperfect. Maybe by the time you've found him, you've barely enough time to even make it last a lifetime, perhaps the last years of your life. So how about many good short-termed relationships with someone not as perfect as the life partner you're looking for?

Life should be that. Good fun. Imperfect but with someone nice making up for that.

I have changed my occupation in Friendster to 'Seasonal-serial-dater', some people thought it's true... Well, it can be. I'm open to dates as long as you are interesting and don't expect much (yes, I mean much... don't come to me with an intention, it never works). Somehow I'm a thrill-seeker in dating, I enjoy experiments, blind dates and unexpected events. More so, if there's something new I can learn from the person (like teach me a language, I'll be intrigued, even if its Cantonese). But well, it doesn't take a lot to keep my attention, just need to find the right way. Life is short, experiment it to the max!

I hope I'm not sounding like I'm hinting you to ask me out on a date. It's just my thoughts... I've enough to occupy for now!

Cash-eating Cashcard

I wonder what's the point of cashcard when we already have NETS... and cashcard is not making things easier. Well perhaps it's useful for motorists with the ERP. Besides that, I'm pretty fed up with the way the Cashcard is working!!

1st. Okay, you pay a refundable deposit and get a cashcard with $5 in it. Then if you want to top it up, you need to pay extra 50cents at any participating retail outlet. If you choose to top-up on AXS, you pay 10cents per top-up and then 20cents to review your past transaction. It's all about service charge here and there, what's the real use of a cashcard??

The cat gets the fish it wanted, and it's happy...

I just passed by my boss's office and he has just received a massive hamper for the Chinese New Year. It's about twice the size the largest hamper he got for X'mas, I went "WOW" as I walked by. Errrmmm, I still prefer X'mas hamper because they have fine wine and chocolate. CNY stuff can be a little more tonic (like birds' nest or something).

Anyway, it doesn't relate to my title (about the cat and fish). I bought a CNY theme mobile decor some weeks ago, it has a prosperity cat (发财猫), in its hands is a fat fish. The happy cat has gotten his catch and is smiling with eyes resembling fine lines. So cute! I want my new year (The year of PIG) to be the same as the kitty's. So far the start of 2007 has already brought me a change of luck, I'm enjoying every single day.

I missed the last CNY, but was back for the year before... Somehow this year, I'm actively helping my parents to get all the goodies and stuff for home. I have just bought nice cushion covers during lunch, can't wait to change the "always-all-red" theme to slightly more vibrant and colorful! I've not bought clothes especially for the CNY, but am going to wear those I have bought and not yet worn (like my strawberry dress from Germany's C&A).

My little sister is turning 21, no longer I can call her "little" anymore. It reminds me that I'm about 4.5 years older than her, sigh. But it is good, she has learned a lot from me I think... haha. She has part of my western influences (she's taking French and thus I've been listening to a lot of her French music), she is slightly more independent than my other sister and well she has started to manage her money too! This Saturday, she'll hold her birthday party in advance (yes, we kiasu Singaporeans). I've sponsored a big cake which I hope it'll be decorated nicely, and going get her a small party game.

I hope everyone will have a fat catch like the cat... ~meow~

Schon gut

It's Friday, Friday, Friday, Friday!!!! Friday is here, is here, is here!! How exciting...

A slow week plagued with boring tasks at work just makes me wish the week goes by faster... and now, its finally Friday. I can't be happier. I have been retyping a 11 pages pdf into word document (argghh, even though I enjoy typing, this can led to premature brain-dead), updating the list of new wireless hotspot locations (aha, now I know where to go to surf for free!), and printing out tonnes and tonnes of emails, copying and pasting (collating) the content into a word document. How boring can things get, even though all these seem like minor stuff, I know they are important resources I'll be providing to the others. Anyway, enough nagging!

I learned a new German phrase yesterday - "Schon gut". My sister has a virtual German friend, I was so bored last night I decided to try out my German on him. It was quite entertaining, he actually enjoyed speaking to me in German. And then in the end, I ended up teaching him some mandarin. What a language exchange!!

Boredom really encourages me to spend money, because I couldn't find any way to utilise those creative cells, I'd often end up browsing in the shopping malls, making rounds, walking into shops with a "SALE" poster on its display window. I just needed to get some form of retail therapy, luckily the damage wasn't that bad. I spent 10 bucks yesterday and it satisfied me.

And the Sebastian turned out to be an "uncle" whom is slightly balding... Well, we did introduce ourselves but I heard he's shifting to a new desk closer to his team members. Ha, looks like I still will have my own space for a while more.

It's lunch time soon, the lunches past two days cost more than my lunches for a whole week, oh my, sometimes I can't help it when it's a lunch appointment. You gotta spend what you gotta. I think it's time I should start a diet, a healthy one... I don't know why I've expanded horizontally by one inch, think it was those beer I had over the Dragonboating/parties.

Syndy is back for over a week, very nice to see her again... a few times in a month! And next, Angela will be back... to do our post X'mas exchange also. Yes, very late but should be still fun! I'm also looking forward to dear joy's visit later this year!

Ms. Discwoman

While everyone is fussing over spoilt ipod batteries, the latest iphone and 40GB of music storage space... I'm still happily sticking to my at-least 10-year-old SONY discman. Due to its old age, I can't blame it that sometimes it suddenly stopped playing the disc and then I have to listen to it all over again. And its ESP shock protection is not as steady as it used to be, everything deteriorates with the age... Sometimes you really witness the good quality of one brand after years!!

I have been skipping the shuttle bus to and fro work. Somehow, I've gotten back into the walk-a-lot mode especially since my knee doesn't hurt or act as funny anymore. I wonder if pilates helped, but was only 2 lessons! This week, I'll switch to BODYROLLING, can't wait, but need to pay $66 for the "exercise balls". Not the big GYM ball, mind you, that one I already have one collecting dust at home. LOL. Weather is cranky, sometimes it rained for a few days and it was sunny again... I especially love to go out of the air-con now, no underpass (through the air-conditioned City Link), no shelter... I need to see the trees, breathe the air, watch the traffic goes by.

Some days ago, in the train, I bumped into someone who totally looks like Alex. I was horrified for a minute, but as usual, I'm not the kinda eye-contact person. I usually don't go watching at him and smile!

I am about to get a bit lonely at work, especially when no one else (in my team) is sitting near me... But today, I'll have a new companion. He's called Sebastian and will sit next to me, but he works for the other project. So far, I haven't met him yet, wonder if he'll eventually become my lunch buddy (it often happened). LOL.

By the way, I just finished doing up the corner of my room with the last being the new red curtains I bought. I have it up now, my sister says its pretty. Haha, not her side of the room, only mine. I hope she gets a wardrobe to put all her 'trash' so our shared cupboard is not collapsing with her stuff.

Currently, Alegria is on my discman... have been playing it for dayssssssss.... not sick of it yet.
