Weekly movie marathon

Thanks to Joy, who has taken the trouble to go get the tickets, I watched a couple of movies with cheap tickets and good seats. I caught another one last night alone, and sometimes I just like the feeling of watching it alone. Peaceful. Undisturbed. Hassle-free.

So I just thought I would share my thoughts on the films I watched.

Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides
It's a whole new chapter. I still thought it was a continuation of the last series. The casts have all changed, but a few remains. I guess the most important part is to keep Johnny Depp in, as he's such a joy to watch. Seriously despite quite a few bad comments about the show, I still think it was entertaining. My friend nearly fell asleep, but I don't know how she did it because there's Johnny Depp!!! I do like the mermaid part, but my colleague was so against the idea that mermaids can be so deadly. Haha, why not? It's the surprise element!

Kungfu Panda 2
Still funny. Many loved it. I do but not as much. Plot is interesting, animation is great, panda is cute. That's all it matters, isn't it? A great movie for all, young and old. And now, find your inner peace...

Hangover 2
The first one is better, but still a good one to catch. At least, it connects to the first movie unlike a lot of other movies. The first one was more focused on Phil, Stu, Alan and Doug, but this one somehow placed more focus on Mr Chow. Mr Chow definitely made the show much funnier and oh, that little monkey too! I like the idea that it's in Bangkok, a total different setting from the Las Vegas setting. Oh Stu and Kimmy (the she-male), how gross, but that was a great laugh! I find Alan quite annoying though... can I give him a slap!!

Fancy a shave?

A gruesome film by Tim Burton.

I have always liked his films - Big Fish, Charlie & The Chocolate Factory, Nightmare Before Christmas and Corpse Bride. But this new addition is unexpectedly violent (KIDS SHOULD NOT WATCH, I repeat, kids should not watch)!!

So, what's so special about SWEENEY TODD - The Demon Barber of Fleet Street??

It's a musical. Well, not just that, but it's a musical about a serial killer!

The film is about a barber, Benjamin Barker (played by Johnny Depp) who seeks revenge after the lustful judge imprisoned him inorder to take away his wife and daughter. And something is going on at Mrs. Lovett Meatpie shop... You gotta watch it to find out! Benjamin Barker/Sweeney Todd has his barber shop re-opened at his old flat, all his customers whom went in alone, never seems to re-appear anymore... And what happened to his wife??

I have to admit the singing were really awful at the start of the show, but fortunately it only gets better and better. Sometimes it can be quite enjoyable. Watching multiple scenes of blood squirting out of broken necks isn't really my thing... So I say even though the film has an interesting plot/style of production, I'd have turned it down should I know how "bloody" it is. What I really like about this film is the goth look of both Helena & Johnny Depp.

Pea, now I wonder what did you really fancy about this gruesome film!!

My Rating: 3/5 (not a massive fan of gruesome blood-filled scenes film)

King of the Pirates isn't quite the king

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

After watching the lengthy "almost 3hours" film, the only memory I have left today is captain Jack Sparrow. I find him hilarious. Besides that, I'm totally lost. A Pirates of the Caribbean movie marathon will help as I couldn't recall and a lot of question marks were in my head. Lots of action, not a lot of thrill, quite a bit of romance and some comedy. Boy, that monkey is a little star too... All in all, I wouldn't say I'm impressed by POC 3, in fact a little disappointed. I have expected more.

Not much to say, except if you love an action packed movie, this is for you!

Yes, the long awaited movie... Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

A lot of my friends say they like the first film better... I didn't see why I didn't like the second one better. The first of any film is always intriguing because you're curious about anything, everything. And the second always is a bridge across to the third or any succeeding films. I find Dead Man's Chest a lot more entertaining (humour!), interesting (I like that ship that submerges and does evil-cracking-monster), mysterious (ending!), and I like the fact that we get to see Will Turner's father. And of course the usual, my favourite character - Jack Sparrow!

La la la la la...

We're watching Charlie & The Chocolate Factory tonight. This is officially our first movie in London since my return!! It's not as cheap as Singapore, but you know, I think it's free seating over here :))

I hope it will be Good & Chocolate-y, like I love the book!! Gotta bring some nice chocolate-y biscuits to go with it!!
