Sorry for the delay, but finally I am getting it all together and posting them up now :) Since I started work at this job, I have been invited to 3 restaurants' soft launches. Thanks to the location and the new malls sprouting out too quickly... and the very fast turnover of businesses in that area - especially The Heeren.
And so, here goes the first one. T.G.I.Fridays Restaurant & Bar (note: website belongs to the original one from USA) located at The Heeren which I visited in December 2009.

Nice name, I say. Good concept for Friday chill-out! I made a booking but was then re-scheduled due to their renovation being delayed. So yea, table for 2 please.
We arrived on time, but was asked to wait for a table (yes, they were training in progress) even though there were empty tables around. We were then issued "monopoly money" to pay for our bill later on. We were given the ground floor table, ambience wasn't too bad... and the slow service began. Well, we understood, it was training in progress.
We were presented with a limited menu where we had to pick one from each page. I ordered the Pineapple Sunshine, a mocktail which was alright. Then came the soup, which really impressed me with that "cheesy" look. God, it tasted just as damned good as it looked... I swear it's the best thing from this dinner. S.E.R.I.O.U.S.L.Y Y.U.M.M.Y. I will gladly return anytime for this soup if they are maintaining this standard ;)
The main courses arrived after some waiting time... It looked alright. My JD Burger definitely looked better than that Friday's Shrimp which was much pricier from what I remembered. The shrimps were tiny and didn't look like it filled up the plate nicely for an approximately S$30 dish. The burger was better, good size and I didn't manage to finish it all. I say Botak Jones will surpass this with their size and pricing. That was the end of our 3 course meal actually, before my friend decided to ask the manager one question - Why our neighbours were served ice-cream and we were not? LOL.
Guess what? The manager politely explained that it was only meant for table of 4 but he was kind enough to give us a complimentary dessert. What excellent service for the soft launch! It certainly added extra point for their service (despite it being slow). Brownie with ice-cream that is, sinful and loaded with sugar! We didn't manage to finish this, feeling quite guilty since it was a complimentary add-on!
We paid the bill with the "money" and were even given a receipt. So real. Good training environment! Thanks TGIF for the dinner. If they would lower their price and improve their main course quality or do up set meal promotion, I will probably go back again! Else I think the tabs are too high for the quality.
