Frickin' hot Sunday night

When you get older... having a few busy evenings are enough to wear you out.

Isn't this so true?

I have had a few of those the last week (or should I say this - since it has just ended). One of my dearest babes is in town, it's her birthday week and so decided to do something fun. We celebrated her belated birthday over fanciful cupcakes and Mediterranean dinner on Thursday at Fig & Olive. The manager also added on free ice creams with mini cheesecakes platter for our celebration. I didn't think birthday girl likes the food anyway coming from Dubai where Mediterranean food must be all around. But it was halal (for our other friend)... Guess we always have to give and take a little in life;) It was a pleasant evening catching up, and more importantly a mini surprise celebration we planned for her which didn't really turn out to be one (because the service at Fig & Olive can be quite S-L-O-W).

It just reminded me of mine last year where I had two of my closest friends whom are in Singapore to spend it with - a seemingly insignificant celebration but means a lot when you have the company of your best friends.

I spent Saturday with birthday girl down Orchard road. It was a self-indulgence day, from having cakes in Cedele to peanut buttered toast in a Hong Kong style cafe to sumptuous authentic Japanese dinner somewhere near Cuppage Terrace. We both love the Carrot cake with walnuts - almost swore that it's the best that I've ever eaten, except for the one I once baked, which is comparable if not for the sugar-overloaded cream cheese. I also love their old-fashioned Apple pie which uses grannysmith apples. It was over 10pm when we sat down to have dinner and I swore both our legs were breaking. Those hours of walking... shopping... in Far East plaza, to Tangs, and Takashimaya... and then finally hunting for food when most of the kitchens have already closed! But at least birthday girl had lots of good finds, she seldom shops, so it was a quite a BIG thing when she bought so much stuff on this trip to Singapore. Haha. I have fun being a companion, I don't know why, perhaps I like to give "opinions" when they needed some during shopping?!

I thought of sharing this funny Udon noodles wrapped with seaweed I ordered (one of the items) for dinner... and it turned out to be SUSHI UDON! Isn't it cute??

The weather has been horrendous these few days. Frickin' hot and I'm frickin' sweating as I'm typing this at 11pm... with barely a breeze outside my windows. The curtains are still... very still. I'm feeling HOT, very HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate Singapore when it's this warm and humid, it can kill!
