Expect less, enjoy more

I can't remember the last few movies I watched... Oh dear, I need to dig up those memory.

The latest one was complimentary due to a compnay event, an invite from our vendor. We saw Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance. I didn't watch part 1, actually it was on TV the week before but I just didn't think it was interesting. So not realising that, I watched part 2 and was actually intrigued. Despite all the bad reviews and the shaking of heads from a lot of friends, I thought the ghost rider character was cool. I'm not into the plot but that skeleton on fire riding on a motorbike is impressive, I like the special effects.

Ahh, I just recall the previous one, also an invite. It was Adam Sandler's rumoured worst movie, Jack & Jill. I read the reviews before I attended the film premiere, it almost dissuaded me from going. I was glad I didn't as I had a really long stressful day and needed a comedy to end the night off. I'm a little weird but I do enjoy watching drag queen, I think it's a skill to be able to make it funny. During our D&D last December, my company invited one, "he" was confident, able to carry himself off and made lots of dirty jokes. It was a good entertainment. Adam Sandler's not really there yet, but at least the movie was also mending the relationship between this pair of loggerheads twins.

I think all of us should lessen our expectations for a movie inorder to really enjoy it!

Flying budget

I just thought I would share these with you guys... Flying budget~

I'm not sure how many of you are fans of budget airlines, I have friends whom do not like the idea of them. They want to be pampered on a holiday, and thus with food and personal entertainment. Since they started in Asia, I have been quite a regular customer of them... unless on some occasions, the budget flights cost as much as the economy or when I feel like I deserve a little pampering.

If it's just a couple of hours, it's often easy to waste by taking a nap, reading a book, listening to music or even playing games (on your phone or handheld PSP) onboard. We can also do without the food. Sneak some in if you dare ;) Or just spend a couple of bucks in the plane. Sometimes it annoys me when I do want to order food on the plane, and they told me they have ran out of it even when the plane isn't half filled. Do they know they have hungry passengers who are willing to pay??? I also recall my sister wanting to buy a duty free product onboard but was told it was only available on selected flights, if so, why do they not mention in the catalogue! Well it does happen on a normal flight as well, if you're unlucky. Also, bear in mind, you have limited baggage allowance and it's often not worth it to get more the last minute. My sister was made to pay an extra 40-45 bucks for just exceeding a few kilos.

But there surely got to be good stuff too! Besides the cheap fare, in Asia, they often still fly to the international airport unlike in Europe, they go to some remote airport meant for budget airlines. It happened to me twice I had bought tickets way in advance due to promotions, later on I was informed of the change of flight timings. It happens, especially when the route is newly introduced and timing seems to be relative when they are still working things out. So I got lucky. I would usually pick the dates with the lowest fares and they are often not my ideal, but when such things happen, I am then offered new dates to reschedule my flight to :D I am not sure if this is a tip, but surely this is a good trick I am sure.

Travelling north east

Two trips coming up! Seems like the wind has a change of direction, this time I am heading over the other side of the world.

In about a month's time, I shall set off for another solo sojourn in Hanoi and hopefully, Sapa. My Vietnamese friend happens to be out of town, but it's fine as I have already planned the trip without him. I have nothing booked except my flight I got many many months ago. As the date is nearing, my panic button still hasn't activated. Two of my friends have travelled solo to Hanoi, another one went recently... They somehow are a kind of reassurance to me, I am sure it's going to be okay! It's not my first solo holiday anyway. My only concern is getting a Sapa tour; I will not be in a junk on Halong Bay that's for sure... maybe sitting in a nice cafe reading my book??

A virgin trip to America in May. Joy's getting hitched, I am excited more for her than for my trip. So much so almost all my buddies are getting their flights booked, I'm still loitering around. Soon soon. I am getting a bit of the travel itch, but a lazy one. I can't be bothered to look up places now, I just want to be there and relax. My idea of seeing America for the first time is cities hopping... I am hoping to see a few places besides LA. Maybe SF, NYC and how about Quebec? My friend recommended me Vancouver but somehow I am not very keen on that side of Canada. We shall see... Any suggestions welcome!

It does seem like the recent whirlwind of good luck is rapidly depleting... I began a frantic search, looking high and low for any sight of luck. If you have some, lend me please? Or if you found some, would you mind donating some to me? Just kidding.

Anyway, my friend woke me up saying that if we are full of positive vibes, we are sure to seek out the opportunities and happiness out there. So yea, that's pretty true. Once you believe you're down on luck, no matter how things churn out, you always view it with pessimism. The cup is not half empty but it's half full! Remember this.

The recent hits

China Glaze's Make Some Noise
My first coral color, from the recent ElectroPop collection (Spring 2012), is a lovely red-orange-pink. It looks blood-orange on some days and on the others it goes towards the pinky side. The longer I wear it, the more pleasant it gets.

China Glaze's Lemon Fizz
I am wearing this now after removing the coral color. I have been wanting to get this for a long time, but because I have another pastel yellow, I had been holding it off... until one fine day, I couldn't resist it anymore! It's like the color of banana skin, while the other one I have is actually the color of banana flesh. I love both :)

What I want

When I met the first one...
I went,"Oh that's interesting, I can really give it a go."

Then when I met the second...
I thought,"Hey, this is even closer to my goal!"

Then when the third and forth and fifth started arriving..
The choices just got better and better.

So is having choices often a good thing or they often can't let us make up our minds? You tell me.

Hello good luck

We have only been to the trivia night twice and both times we won.

Phone has been ringing, emails have been coming. Opportunities are knocking, chances are lingering around. And the usual phrase, never say NO to anything.

Now I feel good about the new year :)

One by one

The news broke.

Another one heading off to green pasture. First, it was a Thai colleague I work regularly with... Now another. I am certainly glad for them, at the same time, envious.

Keeping my fingers crossed for the day to arrive.

Hell hole

My flu miraculously recovers when I am back home. At the office, I was pulling a tissue every few minutes. Indeed, it is a sign.

If there's an industry that can turn people into insatiable monsters, I would say its the banking/finance industry. Have you heard of it? I spoke to people who were in it and made lots of money but they weren't happy. One of them whom I know gave up everything and now teaches diving. He has nothing, not a lot of money but he's happy. Isn't that more important!

I began to see the faces people put up, the type of tricks they pull in the office, they all put me off. I am terrified of the person I become the longer I stay...
