Buying my first BRANDED in store

If you've noticed my wish list on the right column, I always wanted to own a Kate Spade's baby diaper bag. It's of course not because I have a baby or I am preparing for it! I love it because of all the compartments they have in there to put milk bottle, etc. ;) Weird, you thinking? But there you go, I ain't that typical.

Yesterday (as in Thursday) at lunch, my colleague and I happened to pass by Kate Spade in Takashimaya. There was a big sale going on for all brands to welcome Great Singapore Sale which was going to start today. I accompanied her, only to find myself attracted by an adorable lunch tote with an oversized ribbon. Very unusual material (straw), durable looking, cute and best of all it's at 50% off. It's too small for me though, I usually prefer bigger bag.

Back home last evening, I went online and found the bigger version on Kate Spade's website. It was on sale and as I was on the mailing list, I can even get additional 25% off. It all worked out that it's going to be much cheaper than getting in Singapore, but that is only if I ship to an USA address. Bubbles burst, castle in the dream collapsed. But after going through much trouble, I found someone based in USA who will be willingly to go through the hassle and she's charging a small handling fee. I got her to quote me, it works out to be the same if I were to ship it over myself with a concierge service. Got all excited about it, and so ready to make an order today.

This morning, I woke up and rang a Kate Spade store in Singapore. They are selling it at approximately S$6 more than what I was quoted by the seller. Woaaa, heck it, I am so going down to check it out! For your information, I'm not crazy over brands. The most expensive bag I bought was a Calvin Klein bag which I got at 70% off for less than S$70?! Or maybe a Coach wristlet Vivien helped me got in USA Outlet. By the way, I don't consider GUESS branded anymore because it's on SALE way too often, I do have one as a gift! I haven't got any Louis Vuitton, Prada, Gucci, Miu Miu, Burberry... though I quite like the overpriced Miu Miu. I almost got myself a Marc Jacobs (which is around S$200-300 range) but it never really worked out.

So I rushed down. To my surprise, it wasn't displayed... and to my relief, it was still available. They kept them all inside (I wonder why?). I wanted the black but decided to ask for both... Well, since I am in the store, I can act like a REAL customer ;) I tried both on, looked in the mirror for umpteen times and couldn't make up my mind. White looks better on me, but it's very hard to maintain (If you're a man, you probably won't understand! You can think it on the same line as dating high maintanence women?). Out of desperation, I snapped a picture and MMS to 3 of my judges (friend, colleague and sister) to ask for their votes. Thank God for technology! It came back that everyone has chosen black. So their wishes are my command! :) I decided on black, I was before but then I was shaken, fickle-minded and needed reassurance! I also saw a baby diaper bag there, not the kind I fancy, but it seems like I'm not head over heels with it now. It is a little too big too.

I guess sometimes it just happens? Just like love... it happens when you least expect it. I never thought I would buy a Kate Spade that's not a baby bag. I never thought I would get a black one as I love all their bright colored stuff (not that they have any for this range!). I never even want to buy a bag but it just happened?! But the moment I saw it, I knew it. It's chemistry ;) It's so very odd that I know what I want the moment I see it, and that doesn't happen very often!

I left the store with a big hole in my wallet... and a wide big smile on my face, very pleased. I was over the moon when a man was willingly to spend hundreds to celebrate my birthday with me. But this happiness and contentment is way way way more satisfying and poisonous than that. It has poisoned me since the time I stepped out of the shop, I am still feeling it! Being able to afford that myself, being able to pamper myself without a man's wallet and being able to buy myself something I really like but normally wouldn't bear to purchase feel so damnnnnnnnnnnnn shiok!!!

Do you need the sparkle too?

Sex & the City 2

Ouch, missed the first few minutes again! I swear GV must have cut all their commercials! Anyway, like Shrek, I bet we didn't miss much of the story. I miss watching Sex & the City 1 all over again, like the last time, the girls go on another trip! They always go on holidays together and it reminds me that our "Fab4" has only gone on a KL trip once! The other was to Italy, Milan... 3 of us, without Joy. I hope soon we will all be able to go somewhere together (maybe now with "Fab5" including Adeline). Wonder if the big 30 celebration is still on, if yes, I really need to save some $ for next year! Talking about that, I'm not yet 29, but it's freaking scary to know we are going to be 30 next year!

Everybody loves Carrie in the show...! Well, with those mesmerizing blue eyes, stunning figure, amazing wardrobe and a very sweet Mr. Big, we all wish to be like her! I think we should all be envious of Samantha because she gets all the hot guys ;) She probably also has the best sex life out of them all! All the girls are so different but they complement each other so well... Look at them working it out during their disastrous holiday in Saudi Arabia, wow. "Fab4" also have very different personalities and so often I try to picture us as them in the show... It's quite hard to figure who I should be really, but definitely not the one with 2 crying babies.

My verdict: 4/5

气死人的英国蛋

Domo's brother, a karate kid, has arrived. Seeing Domo never fails to make my day. I can't explain why, but probably their "RRAAAWWWWHHH" expression consoles me that my bad day isn't so bad afterall. They make such a lovely pair together, I'm beginning to get addicted to getting more of them. (Subconsciously screaming: STOP!!!)

I'm so angry this evening with Amazon & Cheapsmells, actually not with them in particular but with the way it works in United Kingdom. I bought something to be shipped to my friend in London, only that my billing address is in Singapore. It isn't the first time my order is cancelled due to some stupid brainless security measure!!!!!!! I can use my UK card to make online purchases from Singapore website without any issue, but whenever I try to do it on the UK sites (It's a UK card for god's sake!!!!), it's forbidden. It might be just due to the fact that I bill it to Singapore (But I'm here!!!!!!!). I suspect they do not even know Singapore exists?! SINGAPORE for heaven's sake IS NOT SOME SCAMMING SWINDLING COUNTRY, it's so strict and proper here that we give death sentence to the lightest drug trafficking and ban chewing gum to keep the country clean! Singapore is not in China also (like many thought)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I seriously am pissed off about why I am unable to use my card if I'm just situated overseas! ROARRRRRRRRRRR... I feel like Domo now.

Last bowl of green jello

What happened to the 10 minutes commercial at Golden Village????

When I went in 5-10 minutes past the showtime, it has already started! Not very usual. Or perhaps I haven't visited GV for quite a while huh? Anyway, it was a last minute decision to catch Shrek Forever After (no 3D as well to avoid headache ;) and glasses discomfort). We missed the opening but wasn't anything substantially important I believe.

It's an interesting plot and I like the idea that Shrek found his ogre community. Not to mention, also very entertaining to see Puss in the Boots in a different light, what a fat pussy! The love story between Shrek & Fiona wasn't very convincing (to fall all over in love in 1 day?), but still it was lovable. No one will complain about happy ending, right? ;) I enjoy the humour, like all other episodes of Shrek! I still remember the word "Ridonkulous", that was funny! Those Shrek babies are just so adorable too... It's a great laugh and relaxing movie to end the evening with! It doesn't kill your brain cells too!

It's the final chapter to the movie series "Shrek" as well, so catch it while you can!

My verdict: 4/5

I need my lucky Wednesday

Tuesday is unusually unmotivated.

Luck didn't seem to lurk around as well. I opened my letterbox to my disappointment that Domo's brother hasn't arrived. I regretted not dashing to the closing train door, to enter the next with a man with BO standing next to me! Lunch wasn't satisfying. Afternoon was unproductive. I had the mood, urge and desire but nothing was happening. Pilates this week will be postponed and extended through to July when I will be in Taiwan. Mum complained about us having too many holidays and should use the funds for an air-conditioner in this crazy weather(what happened, she was never a fan of one!). Oil spill again in Singapore Straits, funny that my parents commented they can smell it from here (we aren't very near the coast). Finally, I did my Amazon purchase to realise that the delivery address wasn't complete, thank God I could write to the seller. BS's freelance project did not fall through, but hopefully the future ones will. Adobe is still keeping me waiting :(

p.s: At least, I'm not getting cold shower today...

Randomness XIII

Last evening:

Joy must have been on the plane by now. I saw her walked through the gate, and thought of the next time I will be passing through. I love Changi Airport, it never fails to make me feel like a traveler... It makes me want to leave, have a holiday. It feels like my second home.

Time flew when she was here... We haven't catch up for over 2 years but nothing seems to have evolved over time. We chatted like she never left, we hanged out, savoured fruity gelato and laid our feet on Helix bridge. She also had the xiao long bao (小笼包) she was craving for. I miss you now. x

This evening:

I woke up feeling very unwell, it must be those cold showers in this extremely hot weather. I seriously detest it. I popped 2 pills and am feeling so much better. Also done my chores which I usually do on Sundays to free my day tomorrow.

My project at work is launched. Finally. It was supposed to be before I stepped in, being able to bring it to completion is an honour, but one I'm not very proud of. Where am I heading next? I'm not entirely sure but I am pretty sure I found what I love to do!

6 weeks to my solo backpacking in Taiwan (in celebration of my end of contract) and I haven't plan a thing. I'm actually quite admiring myself for not being paranoid about it, worried over it or even panicking! I have no idea why but I'm sick of organising it to the point I know what I'll be doing every single day. So my plan is to chill out, list down a few must do, the rest to go with the flow! Sounds great? I hope so! Domo is coming with me;) Guess I'm not going to feel so lonely then;)

Sunday, please be nice! No rain, no hot sun!

遇见怪脾的人 (14) - What a cad

Uncle obviously doesn't know the word or never heard of this word "Gentleman" before. Can someone please organize workshops for men like these? Unlike the olden days, men opened doors for women, walked on the outer side of the road of coming traffic, offered their jackets for women... Today, you see men like these, they tried to jump on the empty seats (okay, not all, I admit some men do not), they tried to share leaning on the glass panel with you?!!! Please la, uncle!!!!!!

I told my sister to snap this picture of me making face at this disgusting uncle... purposely blurred to protect my identity ;)

Domo-craze

Don't ask me why!

But yes, it's a bit retarded, Domo Kun drives me mad now. I wasn't even attracted to it when I first saw it, but I thought it was quite a cool monster. When everywhere started to sell out fast like hotcakes, my interest in it peaked... as in PEAKED! I really was dying to find one, not the giant size or the mini keychain but a proper palm-sized Domo. I couldn't find any :(

It is Domo's fault that now I am an eBay addict! Domo's going to be punished when he arrives at my doorstep from Hong Kong! Oh well, I do hope he doesn't get lost in the mail first! I bidded for a pink Domo. Just in case you're wondering,"WHAT?! PINK!? Serious??". Yes, it was a limited edition for Valentine's Day in the USA, but I was outbidded by 5 or 6 times. I gave up. It was over my budget to buy and then ship over such an expensive toy. Bidding is so fun!

I am waiting for 2 of them to come knocking on my door. I guess I might be able to find some good deal in my upcoming Taiwan trip too?

Singapore is like an oven

Misty Monday. Alighted from the train that evening, I could see the mist hanging in the air. I'm sure it wasn't anything to do with me not wearing my glasses. It was obvious. It was cloudy, damp and heavy. I almost feel suffocating because I couldn't take a deep breathe, the air was a condensed mass. The sky seemed to have descended, one can almost imagine a cloud forming right over their head.

Misty evenings. The mist continues to hang around. The weather isn't cool like before, and somehow I miss those rainy days we used to complain about. The air is warm, humid and one just can't stop perspiring when you step out of the air-conditioned. The heater at home has been acting cranky and giving us all cold showers. With this very annoying weather persisting, I somehow wouldn't say "No" to cold showers anymore.

Luck

Do you believe in luck? If you do, it will come :)

I am believing it because I have quite a few lucky days these couple of weeks. I am keeping fingers crossed, options open and my mind happy. Like a report once stated, being positive creates luck because you tend to notice the opportunities!

So keep those eyes glued open with your chin up!

Update:
I won a lucky draw on 12th May! And it's the 2nd time I won a prize this year, I gave the 1st to my sister though. The year can only get better!

Facebook war

The power of social media is being underestimated... and sometimes goes overboard.

Some people have well utilised it, some misused it and others abused it! There are so many things one can do on it and don't underestimate the power... because viral marketing spreads real fast. There were cases: someone got fired because she bitched about her boss openly on her status and he happened to be on her list; commoners' opinions were heard and things were then improved by the mayor. Many companies use it to create a global network of their employees, and fashion brands use it to understand the consumers' needs and update their promotions. Little did I know that it can be used within the family too...

A week or so ago, sister posted a comment on cousin's status about her being rude and having no respect for the elderly. The cousin seemed a little retarded, she replied something that made no sense and later deleted it. 3 days later, mum got a call from cousin's dad (who's the brother of mum) complaining that we said something to her daughter... (Ummm, yes she has to take 3 days to digest??). Well in actual fact, we aren't in the wrong, he fails to discipline her precious daughter and still got the guts to ring us and ranted brainlessly. My sisters both deleted her off their list but I haven't (still haven't decided to burn the bridge yet).

Anyhow it has all been sorted out. I just felt the cousin is being such a childish brat. Delete that comment if you don't like it! Simple.
