It is addictive, makes you high... and leaves you stranded in your own fantasy.
This is how I feel right now... which explains why I'm still up at 3.40am blogging?!! After an exhausting race, I call it an amazing race because it is amazing how we could have won. Some weeks ago, my lil sis bought the CLEO magazine (local female fashion magazine) and casually mentioned to me about this Treasure Hunt event. I got interested and I signed up for it after being reminded on their Facebook group (social media does work, okay!). I love being a social media marketer myself!
So I got another friend interested and I signed her up as well. The race is over... 12 hours ago, we were still panicking and almost convinced we were not going to win. We went with the mentality that we would still have fun and walk away with a goodie bag... so it would be all good. But in that half an hour, everything changed. Lady luck was on our side, and things suddenly went so smoothly that it was just incredible...
The CLEO treasure hunt is a game where we are supposed to hunt down the 6 people (working for the magazine) hidden in the stores or elsewhere in the 5-6 storey mall, Central. It was hard work as they would be just sitting/standing there stationary, so we would easily bypass them without noticing if we didn't go up to them. We got a few hints here and there but missed them. And luck knocked on our doors after we spotted the first person... later on in the game, some kind people whom have finished the game gave us some helpful tips which managed to finish us off at the 5th and 6th place. All top 10 winners walk away with $200 vouchers to be used in the mall... and the next 10 will walk away with $100. Not a bad deal at all, and a good way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
The things that happened after we claimed our prizes was like a dream - high on ecstacy! We were smiling inside out, because we don't need a boyfriend to buy us gifts!!!! We win them ourselves and shop guilt-free... imagine how good that feels like?! I would like to buy that potion to feel this way for the rest of my life. Seriously, pure ecstacy. So the rest is history... lots of shopping and having a sumptuous dinner are needless to say.
Imagine, lavishing!
My friend happily got herself 3 pairs of shoes, a belt and a scarf... and I bought myself a pair of leather shoes which I normally wouldn't even bear to buy!! Oh yes, a necklace too and a cowboy style shirt! Totally loving my purchase... For your information, we even paid the dinner with the vouchers... and still we haven't finished spending it all. This is how good it should end!!
Read my friend's experience here.
p.s: There's a high possibility we would be featured in the next issue of the magazine... ;)

Smart woman I
Things a single woman can do without having a man: Tonnes! The list goes on and on but the most important one to be mentioned is: To be able to love oneself more than the man does. How many of us can do that??
A lot of my friends complained about loneliness, depression and how much they needed sex or hugs after they recently became single... but do you actually know that it is the best time to realise how much you can do for yourself and not for your man! When I see how some women's life are all evolved about their partner, sad but true, I don't envy them at all... It's a different life or perhaps a different perspective but I do like some sort of independence and I think it does more advantage than harm. Who will know if this man of yours will suddenly leave you, or worst, abandoned you with the kids? Seen too many real live examples, not that I'm skeptical about it, but a woman needs to know how to protect herself.
Anyhow I was suppsed to write about other stuff... LOL... getting side-tracked again, I know!!! But another thing women can do pretty well without men is pampering themselves!!!!! Okay, shall continue in my next entry!

Pasta de Waraku seriously is damn good. They fed us well... with very affordable pricing, reasonable portion and good food! I have also tried their normal Waraku (Japanese casual dining) twice and they do excellent food too. I have also heard good reviews from my colleagues of Mr. Curry which is also under them. So go visit them!!!
After a super long day today (which I'd tell you why later), my grumbling stomach was stuffed with so much good food that it probably wouldn't rumble for the next 24 hours! The moment I sat down at Pasta de Waraku in Central Mall, I instantly like the place. Very attentive service too! The menu provides a huge variety to choose from and I'm spoilt for choices! I decided on my favourite and must-have ingredient (for any pizza/pasta) and that is mushroom. So the choice is made - Chicken and mushroom pasta in MISO CREAM (which is pretty special!), I asked the waiter to make a suggestion for the sauce since I didn't want the normal tomato paste nor carbonara nor normal cream. If you are feeling adventurous, try the wasabi cream!
We ordered ourselves each a set meal that comes with corn soup, small salad with our main course... and then a choice of gratin (for mine) and mini pizza (for my friend). Almost wanted to do coke float but am very glad now we didn't... we were struggling to clean the plates up at the end of it! I had banana shake which wasn't that "milky" fortunately so wasn't too filling for me, so it worked out pretty well.
I felt the pasta pricing is a lot more worthy comparing to their japanese casual dining, not too sure why... perhaps japanese food is really their forte? Anyhow, I love their brand, food and service and will always think of going back for more... YUM YUM.

遇见怪脾的人 (09) - Fragrant people
Every single day... I'm meeting all kinds of people.
Those reallyx100 smelly one, so much so that I rather gave up my seat to some poor soul who would innocently become victimised once they replaced me!
An auntie who was really auntie... Ear picking and then smelling them! Yucks! Constantly rummaging through her plastic bag, applying hand lotion, applying medicated oil... and do all sort of auntie things. She couldn't stop "accidentally" brushing against me so I finally gave up and let someone else be rubbed by her.
On my way home today, surprisingly someone whom sat opposite me looks very familiar... and I know instantly I hated that face! Well I don't now, but still it haunts me when I think about it. She is and I'm certain she sat besides me during my class in Secondary one, nicknamed Nisa. And I seriously loathed her, proud, arrogant and a bitch - sorry but seriously she is all of them. Today when I looked at her, her face still remains as black as (what!) 15 years ago?!?! She looks like a married auntie... or probably is one now. Good luck I guess?

Oh mann, Manpuku
So much to write, so little time... that's me, with a passion for blogging.
I can't stand it anymore, I need to do some justice or at least talk about it. Finally, I dined at the super crowded "Marche-style" Japanese gourmet town at Tampines 1. It's known as MANPUKU. Finally, and probably a first and final time for me unless the food really improves. However, I have a slight suspicion that the Udon stall is probably better than those we tried.
I decided to go there for a dinner appointment one of the evenings... Craving for the ramen (thinking of the ones I had at Cuppage Terrace!), I decided to go with it. My friend chose the omelette rice that comes with chicken cutlet. Judge these pictures, and I'd tell you they tasted JUST AS BLAND as the photos. They didn't even try to make it taste good, put some MSG lah - kidding.

Anyhow, after reading so many blog entries about how exciting the food are, it turned out to be a disappointment. Are those bloggers "paid" (by getting a free meal there) to write good stuff about it??? Honesty please. Or perhaps it was really good on that day they went for food testing... probably? The desserts (fruit tarts) looked really good, but after having super average main course and looking at how much cream they're having on their tarts, we decided to give it a miss and enjoy desserts at Secret Recipe instead!
So my verdict, try it once for the super cosy ambience and atmosphere! Don't even think of returning unless food standard is raised to make it worth what we're paying for! Go to Shokudo anytime over this! I will probably 'force' myself to return to try the Udon once! Ha.

Evening tea

They have it at 2 places if I'm not wrong... in the 2 new malls. Tampines 1 and Iluma.
It's a refreshing concept and I like the idea of "tea". So many coffee joints around, in fact, too many... finally someone hasn't left out his poor neglected partner, tea. I do like tea and if given a choice will at any time choose tea over coffee. I am sure it appeals to many people whom think alike. It is a bit pricey, but they are having a promotion of ordering 2 regular drinks and you get the cake at 1/2 price. Considering that they do source their cakes from 5* hotels (I read), it seems quite worth to give it a go.
I enjoyed my Simply Matcha quite a lot, because it's simple. Just a simple drink. Green tea frappe. Think healthy! Mmmmm.... My friend had this one called Little Red Fuji which is a fuji apple frappe, which tasted pretty refreshing too. Think no sugarload. We have chosen the Wild Jackfruit cake after I read it's a good choice on a review and is something we don't very often see in the cake shop.
p.s: Nice place to chill with a lappy, they do have power plug and wireless@SG.

Burmese can yum yum
Talking about food keeps me awake...
I have been dreaming so often this week that it is making me really tired though I had like 7-8 hours of sleep. Please give my brain cells a break, seriously.
Anyway, I am back to introduce you to a new place which has great deals for lunch!!
Inle is a myanmar restaurant located at Peninsula Plaza basement.. it's a rare find! Why? Because it serves yummy food at so affordable price. I received their pamphlet on the way to work, seriously this works... clever advertising. It didn't look that appealing on the paper, but out of curiosity and after running out of ideas where to go for lunch... I decided to head there with my colleague. My colleague apparently has already visited this place a couple of times!
They are doing this lunch deal at S$14 nett for 2. It includes a drink, a main course (with soup) and a dessert (can't choose for this, as it's what they are offering on that day). I had the sour plum drink, my usual favourite at any places I go to! LOL. A little too much ice but otherwise I love the drink! :) Not very hard to please ;) The dessert we had was some kinda coconut agar-agar (like harder version of jelly). The main dishes were of pretty good standard and (trust me) they tasted as good as the pictures. Alternative you can still do an individual lunch deal for any noodle set with drink at S$5.50 or rice set with drink at S$6.50. And I'm so going back for the noodle trial!

Food review
I had a good Burmese (damn it, I just realised Myanmar=Burmese) lunch... wanted to write a review about it but am seriously worn out... so stay tuned for it. COMING SOON...
New house for my feet

But like the saying goes... 旧的不去,新的不来!If the old ones do not go, the new ones won't come (literal translation sux, lol). My brain is already switched off at this hour, so just close one eye on this ;)
So this post is dedicated to my beloved nth favourite heels... the last memorable one being a pair of Bata heels which made me a superwoman, I could run in them! This being my simple-and-can-match-all pair, thanks you URS - first time I really love shoes from them anyway. And to end this off, I shall introduce the new replacement... the bold and stylish from Charles & Keith (not really my 1st choice but just coincidentally fell in love with this)!

Date with chicken little latino
Kikorico rocks.
Somehow got to know of this place through means of social networking, and minutes after checking out the pictures, I had set my mind on visiting the restaurant. And I did.
Go with no expectation and leave as a very satisfied customer, go with some expectation and be assured that it will be surpassed! ;)
Their Latino roasted chicken, which looks not dissimilar to Kenny Roger's, is way way way way better than KR's (trust me). So yum that I will definitely return again for it... Described as tender, juicy and intensely flavored on their website, it lives up to its words. It also comes with 2 side dishes from a full list to choose from. My baked potato is very good - haven't had any since I came back from Europe, green salad was pretty alright too. My favourite item on the menu is the Quesadilla, we ordered the chicken version which came in 4 big pieces but we were too stuffed to finish them. Do not miss their traditional latino cocktails! We had the Margarita and Mojito as Caipirinha was not available. Margarita came in this blue liquid and it almost tasted like detergent (looks quite like transparent 'Dynamo' too), not for me!!... In comparison, Mojito was so refreshing you'd not say NO to a few more... it was made freshly with mint leaves!
I'm so going to have another date with the Latino roasted chicken - time to note down on my calendar ;)
p.s: I was so engrossed with the food that it slipped off my mind that I should have taken a picture of the food!

The trust is broken
A close friend is no longer close
The promises are empty
Your words are lies
Whatever you say
Can I still believe
Whatever you have said
I begin to doubt
Why has God sent you to me
Because I'm a fool
Or because you haven't done enough sin
My memories of you
Are no longer fond
The images of you
I want to delete them
Any reminder of you
Makes me sick and fume
If you're a voodoo doll
I'll prick you forever
The promises are empty
Your words are lies
Whatever you say
Can I still believe
Whatever you have said
I begin to doubt
Why has God sent you to me

Wednesday Madness
This morning is one of a kind, omgsss.
You all should have seen how uptight Singaporeans are in the morning. And I do admit occasionally I am one of them (in those irritable mood). I made a mistake occupying a "standing" seat by the door and it's a very rare mistake I do make. So besides being sandwiched by the oncoming and pushy people, you get to smell "strange fragrance" mainly comprised of body odour or sweat, and witness the happenings outside the closing door.
What's up??? It's already Wednesday - time to let loose, and Monday is already over!
I stood there, grinning sheepishly to myself. Sometimes I can self-entertain myself by watching what people are doing... and after this morning I can safely conclude that women are more aggressive in SQUEEZING into the train cabin than the men, at a ratio of 80% to 20%. Men (not all, but most) would conveniently jump into a slot if they noticed one, but women would "no matter how" push their way through even it means their bags are going to be dangerously clasped by the doors. Aggressive, I call these Singaporean women (though I can't conclude they are all Singaporean by birth!)... are they the reason why Singaporean men are intimidated by them?? Hahaa... I saw a few cases today that these women just held on to the side of the door and shoved their bodies in, pressing and pushing, they didn't even care if there are stinky 'bagalah' behind them or lustful perverts waiting for a chance to have a woman's body closely pressed to theirs. I am amazed... totally. I wouldn't be doing that myself.
Then someone accidentally touched me (not in sensitive area of course), so I naturally reacted by giving him a glance. Well, if it's not rough or painful, I wouldn't demand an apology since it is pretty packed. Then this man in all his self-defence tried to explained that he wasn't intentional and I didn't have to stare at him. I wasn't even staring, for God's sake, chill lah... Maybe my eyes are too big??? I didn't even bother, because I was on my Creative Zen, high on music (can't he see I'm not even listening??). At some point, another woman was yelling at someone outside the door in Hokkien, literally saying "See what?!!". Sounded like she wanted to pick up a staring fight?!!
So much for the things happening this morning... I am telling myself, no more standing by the door, never never never do it again.

A romantic notion
The Lakehouse was screened on TV last night... I had already seen it but sister's excitement over the movie somehow plagued me. So I watched it the second time.
AGAIN... these things make me think. Movies are movies and sometimes people said they are fictional and never would be reflected in reality. Yet somehow I believe otherwise. I like the romantic notion, and that idea that someone out there is worth all the waiting. Stupid hopeless romantic idealist... sometimes I cursed myself that.
Because you know... I'm waiting...

In fashion spotlight
No wonder...
I looked and then had another second look. Still, I couldn't remember who he was. That familiar face I seemed to remember from somewhere. Until... I saw him on Channel 5 earlier on hosting the RHB Singapore Cup. Mr Paul Sng. I remember his name and it has deeply embedded in my mind.
That day while I was out with sickie... we happened to be in the same boutique. He was there trying so many different shirts, and there I waited with his wife. I looked at him, not too sure whether I was looking because he looked familiar or whether I was trying to help judge him in his outfits. Funny. I just sat there quietly watching and hearing the wife giving comments. Just before he left the shop, he left the shop manager his name. Paul.
