Shopping mood is back. Bad bad BAD.
Walked into a shop this evening looking for inspiration for tomorrow's attire and eyes started to roam. Couldn't resist myself that animal print jumpsuit... Call that animal instinct??????? Sigh. Ended up with a shopping bag with loots worth a hundred bucks.
Someone, please kill me.

Hooha Saturday
After all the hooha, I'm finally back home and having a good rest after spending about 8 hours in the hospital and observation ward. Spare me from any of these again, please!
Sis fell so sick today we had to call an ambulance... it freaked everyone out. Mum was out but she immediately "flew" back after we rang her about the news. It's the 1st time ever in my life to ring for an ambulance... we didn't dial 995 as it's usually for emergency, we dialed another and got a private one instead. Freaking $85++ for the one-way service which would have costed us like $5 on cab... But sometimes you don't have a choice in such situation!
I sat in the ambulance... often I used to wonder how people would feel in there, and now I have felt it 1st hand. Anyway the ambulance service was quite slow (felt it was bit dillydallying), if it was a heart attack, the person might have already died. Said to arrive in 15 mins but turned out to be longer... I suddenly realised the important of CPR and I know I should go learn it one day.

STOMPers need a life
Today I'm directed to STOMP again, for whatever reason I have forgotten... and some of these reading is doing a good job entertaining my boring Saturday afternoon. Even though I so much wanted to support my friend, Laremy whom has set up a group to write a petition to shut down STOMP, I can't seem to do it. I was in the team and now I can't seem to go against my conscience as many of the people I do know are still there. It isn't about them but it's about these things that are going on on STOMP.
If you go to Singapore Seen, you will not miss postings like such:
Pervert puts hand in pants while ogling at girl in MRT
Gross! Woman sleeps in MRT with her face on her bf's crotch
Shameless couple engages in intimate behaviour in Bukit Timah condo pool
For goodness' sake, why do they want to post such things about other people, unless you're certain about the act (in the 1st pervert case)... For the next two, I think these STOMPers really have nothing better to do, it's a case of privacy and the way some people want to do it. So let them be.
My blog entries about inconsiderate or weird (or even cute like the boy with Stitch) people I encountered seem to be more substantial than all of those above (proud to say that!).
Something I totally agree with and is taken off the site - a comment on one of the postings:

I have no respect for STOMPERS who take sneakily take pictures of other people's private moments, hypocritically place him/herself on a moral highground making criticisms to undermine the characters of innocent parties, under the cover of anonymity, and when it appears to benefit them, show off their deeds by turning the monitor around to showoff to like-minded friends how many sneaky pictures they took. This is not the first time such pointless posts have victimized innocent people.

Things happening this morning
I woke up still feeling the sharp pain on the side of my back. I must have accidentally sprained/pulled a muscle somewhere. But I still feel excited to come in for work since I'll be fiddling with a HD video camera later, how fun. Just don't expect to see me moving vigorously with a sprained back :(
I noticed how suave a traffic policeman can be. Not those detestable ones which issue fines, but the ones on the road commanding traffic. I was mesmerized. Even though he seemed a little unsure and nervous with his hand signs, he managed to clear the road for the VIP cars to come through. Good job, man in white!
Every morning, he never failed to be there. An old man wearing a green shirt printed "Evergreen", with his neatly gelled grey hair and usual droopy eyes, he always have his eyes on the people walking by. As he moved along the walkway of the Stamford House with his pail and mop, he left behind trails of wetness... He has been my 'human clock', whenever he has started mopping a certain area of the walkway, it would be an indication if I'm on time or slightly late. However today, he was still stuck in the same area while I am 10 mins late. I wonder if he has realised... he wasn't that on time today too.

新台风 - Singapore's typhoon
Guess what my dad or sisters commented? Tsunami's coming (choy!!)!!! That's a bit more exaggerating than me, I only said Typhoon (Choy too!!).
Anyway at 11ish pm, Singapore experienced extremely strong wind (certified to be present in east, west and north-east). So much so you can see those trees down my block swaying along to the music of the wind. Not very much you can tell from this picture, wish I had taken a movie clip! Like me, many curious faces were popping their heads out of the windows looking for an answer. No one seems to have one, except for that howling wind which kept us entertained with 'The Dance of the Trees'.
A photo of my dad's potted plants shaking like crazy... Poor plants, they need a shelter, a blanket and a warm hug. Another photo below shows one of the poor plants collapsed from the effects of the super strong wind.

Pops the wabbit
I am amused by my pet named Pops in Pet Society.
I never wanted to add this application but I decided to see what the craze was all about... Some of my friends are going nuts over it; another friend's wife is just on Facebook for that (using my friend's account). Some people have abandoned Fluff Friends and migrated over... I still want to keep my Tommie there though. He's one giraffe that I'll never neglect.
Pops is a rabbit-like creature I created. She's currently sleeping at the moment, she likes body scrubs and can't play frisbee well or skipping rope.
Seriously this Pet Society is so like Tamagotchi but a more elaborated version.

Monday morning danger
It's 10am on a Monday morning and unusually dark. I hear the agitated thunder roaring, I see the grey clouds hanging up there so dull and lifeless, I can almost feel the chill outside. The trees stood motionless, not a wind in the air. Somehow I imagine those leaves trembling, not in coldness but fear. It's a dangerous morning. No birds are flying across the sky, maybe they are feeling it too. The one that did, scurried across hastily.
The seat besides me is empty. It was 9:45am when I knew my colleague wasn't coming in anymore, some minutes later someone else confirmed the news. Is he also feeling the danger on this Monday morning??
10 minutes has passed. I see white. The sky has brightened up slightly, somehow the blanket of grey is making everything look gloomy. So has my mood, and Spongebob and the guys (his new companions) whom are sitting with me. I stared several hundreds metres ahead and saw the place I was working almost a year ago. That grey building with others stood among the light grey sky, with a mass of dark clouds hovering over them. I can almost see the rain coming down hard. Heavily.
The rain has ceased. The fallen yellow leaves seem to be running along with the cars as they passed by. The roads are wet, the puddles of water mirrored the lives of the passer-bys. I feel a contraction in my stomach... and I know it's asking me for another piece of "button-size" chocolate.

Frickin' hot Sunday night
When you get older... having a few busy evenings are enough to wear you out.
Isn't this so true?
I have had a few of those the last week (or should I say this - since it has just ended). One of my dearest babes is in town, it's her birthday week and so decided to do something fun. We celebrated her belated birthday over fanciful cupcakes and Mediterranean dinner on Thursday at Fig & Olive. The manager also added on free ice creams with mini cheesecakes platter for our celebration. I didn't think birthday girl likes the food anyway coming from Dubai where Mediterranean food must be all around. But it was halal (for our other friend)... Guess we always have to give and take a little in life;) It was a pleasant evening catching up, and more importantly a mini surprise celebration we planned for her which didn't really turn out to be one (because the service at Fig & Olive can be quite S-L-O-W).
It just reminded me of mine last year where I had two of my closest friends whom are in Singapore to spend it with - a seemingly insignificant celebration but means a lot when you have the company of your best friends.
I spent Saturday with birthday girl down Orchard road. It was a self-indulgence day, from having cakes in Cedele to peanut buttered toast in a Hong Kong style cafe to sumptuous authentic Japanese dinner somewhere near Cuppage Terrace. We both love the Carrot cake with walnuts - almost swore that it's the best that I've ever eaten, except for the one I once baked, which is comparable if not for the sugar-overloaded cream cheese. I also love their old-fashioned Apple pie which uses grannysmith apples. It was over 10pm when we sat down to have dinner and I swore both our legs were breaking. Those hours of walking... shopping... in Far East plaza, to Tangs, and Takashimaya... and then finally hunting for food when most of the kitchens have already closed! But at least birthday girl had lots of good finds, she seldom shops, so it was a quite a BIG thing when she bought so much stuff on this trip to Singapore. Haha. I have fun being a companion, I don't know why, perhaps I like to give "opinions" when they needed some during shopping?!
I thought of sharing this funny Udon noodles wrapped with seaweed I ordered (one of the items) for dinner... and it turned out to be SUSHI UDON! Isn't it cute??
The weather has been horrendous these few days. Frickin' hot and I'm frickin' sweating as I'm typing this at 11pm... with barely a breeze outside my windows. The curtains are still... very still. I'm feeling HOT, very HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate Singapore when it's this warm and humid, it can kill!

... seems to be longer than my attention span.
Seriously, I think I'm not a fan of monotonous life or routine. You can't ask me what I'm doing every weekend because I seriously don't know and don't have a plan (of course, unless, I'm going for some weekly course which I'm currently not). And if something doesn't constantly have something new to keep my interest there.... I know I won't be interested some weeks down the road. So sad but the truth. My attention span is only this short.

Sad news (again)
One of my cousins is sick, very sick. He has been diagnosed with meningitis last week and is in critical condition. I remember him as the "big kor kor" whom would always joke and play around with us. Since he's some years older than us, we slowly drifted apart when he got older and married. His dad (my uncle) just passed away last year due to throat cancer, and I certainly hope he'll be able to recover and ward off the bad luck lurking around his family.
加油"Jelly" 哥哥!!请你千万不要放弃!
I really hope everyone whom read this will spend a minute or even a second to pray for him.
Edited @ 10:49pm.
I just read the news that DBS CEO Richard Stanley has passed away on Saturday from acute myelogenous leukaemia. He's only 48 this year, and left behind 3 children and wife. Saddening...

Superb supermarket
Cold Storage made my day!
As I was having my stroll in the new Cold Storage in Tampines 1, I was grinning from ear to ear. I love them, well, I love NTUC Fairprice too. But Cold Storage is just different, even though stuff are usually more costly than any other supermarket, it's the one I can usually expect to find all or most of the ingredients I need when I do a recipe. Yippee...! I'm quite pleased when I went around checking every corner to see what they've in store for us...
One of the section I'm most glad to see is 4 shelves of cheese with lots of imports, which means I don't have to go to town for Carrefour or even Jason's market!!

And so I bought a can of mixed beans from Waitrose (YEAY, ALL THE WAY FROM UK!!!), to go with that bottle of sun dried tomatoes in olive oil. I'm not sure how it will turn out... haha, but let me try ;)
Thank you Cold Storage for bringing the world closer to home. But can you please give us more discounts/promotions!!!

All the way from France
YES IT IS IN SINGAPORE. I highly recommend to do it with their guided tour, which comes free if you purchase the admission ticket. Those of you into fashion (with a BIG passion), you'll enjoy it! Look at the little details and thoughts Lacroix has put into design the costumes, and me being me, I love his use of super bold colors. BRIGHT please. And his use of lace and pokka dots... and the reasons behind them. Very clever. For more details of this event which is currently at National Museum of Singapore, visit the website and look under special Exhibitions. It's on from now till 7 June 2009.
I shall now lead you to excessive fashion overload with Christian Lacroix's site.

Never-ending shopping in SG - part 2
Tragedy is predicted tomorrow. Location has been determined, it is right next to Tampines MRT station. Victims are the freaks whom are going to visit Tampines 1 on it's first day of opening. Sigh.

When I saw these (below) plastered all over the MRT station in Tampines. I can already foresee a swarm of people swimming there on 9 April, which is TOMORROW. Scared. I'm not much a fan of simplicity, but yet I think there will be something that will fit nicely on my plate. Let's hope not. I hate Singapore for turning me into a shopping freak (which I never really was!).
One of my favourites. TopShop! Very happy to know it's coming near my home. Another disaster for me, actually... Sigh.
When I saw Niccii at Bugis's Iluma, I thought that's the most affordable shop ever. But I'm wrong. Where did this Cache Cache come from???? It's the most wallet-friendly store I have come across in malls, even Fox stuff don't come cheap anymore.
I just found out from my sister that Tampines 1 has a fan page in Facebook. OMG - can't imagine. Why are they doing this to ruin us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sad. Anyway, they showed a preview of ALL the shops that are going to be there. Restaurants like Dian Xiao Er (YUM), Subway (Hmmmm...) and Carl's Jr! My sister is crazy about Sushi Tei. I love the fact they are having Cold Storage here. So we'll have Giant, NTUC, Shop & Save and Cold Storage. Just lack of one more - Carrefour! I also saw a Say Cheeze restaurant, am quite puzzled about the menu... mmm. Oh yes, a coffee joint (TCC or coffee club I can't remember) just at the entrance for chilling out! :)))
Shopping makes me sick!!!

Never-ending shopping in SG - part 1
A pictorial guide of stores in malls... LOL. Yes, I know, not very interesting... Just for sharing.
There are some interesting finds.
For one, the first NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC store in Singapore has opened in Vivo, I chanced upon it and am impressed at the size of the store. In there, they sold lots of stuff, from travel equipments and essentials, apparels, books, their own magazines, framed photographs to very minor stuffs e.g. accessorises. There is even an interactive section where you can enter this "box" to experience super cold wind blowing at you. Check it out!

Next I want to share some of the stores I visited at Iluma the other time... we have seen how nice it looks on the outside. So time to discover what's inside?!
On the top level.
Cinema named Film Garde... another new competitor for GV, Cathay and others.
Bought my "zebra print with texture" pouch here.
Very unique and cool (stylo) stuff, ranges from affordable to expensive.
I find some of the stuff pretty victorian and english style.
Not forgetting there's a level dedicated to men including a toy shop! Another level for satisfying your hunger and stomach!
I shall check it out again when it's fully opened.

Something interesting happened today...
I got "elbowed" by someone in the train this morning. This guy was standing behind me, and I don't know what he did but he gave me an "elbow" on my back (was quite a forceful one!). Perhaps it was an accident, but when someone does that and doesn't apologize, he gets it from me (definitely)! My first instinct and almost instantly, I returned him one (an "elbow") too. He immediately turned back, and I thought we were going to have a war. But instead, he apologized profusely. Many people must have witnessed me giving him an "elbow", I think they must have underestimated women in Singapore. I won't be cursing and swearing in silence... So say "Sorry" before you get whacked.

缘分是什么东东嘛。
A book I'd like to recommend and share... (Thanks Joe!) Well, I personally like what I read, but not sure about the others. My sister finished the book but she has a very different perception, she thinks it's boring and doesn't get what it's trying to get at. It's about following your dream... Pea, that's why I am asking you to read this too!!
I love the ending, because it made me laugh. Well, like most of the time in life, sometimes you go about and realise you're back where you were... Doesn't it sound like my adventure to the UK and now being back in SG, but what have I gained over the time I spent over there??! Too much. Lots of good things and lots of bad... enough to make me now a different person looking at the world with a new perceptive. Indeed, I think I have heeded the omens which led me back here... but will it all end here - I definitely don't have an answer yet!
I also want to quote 2 phrases from the book that left me an impression:
pg 16
If someone isn't what others want them to be, the others become angry. Everyone seems to have a clear idea of how other people should lead their lives, but none about his or her own.
pg 18
... a certain point in our lives, we lost control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That's the world's greatest lie.
我办到了!
Done everything I wanted tonight and am kind of proud that I did!
Mending a hole on my blouse, giving my nails a bit of a shine, exfoliating my face with a mud mask, trimming my brows, digging clothes out and ironing them, charging my sickie zen (which is ok from time to time)... especially ironing which I have delayed for ages... very happy I did it finally! 3 cheers for me, that's a good ending for Monday!

遇见怪脾的人 (04) - Sick people can be sickening
I sympathize with the sick people when they are sick... but I HATE it when they aren't considerate towards others.
Again, today I sat besides a super selfish woman on the train. She was on the phone and "hello love" "thank you love", all her sentences were so full of "love"... and indeed I thought what a nice lady she must be. But then when she started coughing, she just coughed freely (hello, no tissue paper meh??)... and I seriously dislike it! If I'm the person standing in front of her I will fan her germs back in her face. So much so that I wanted to take out my ear phones and tell her that her germs will spread 1 metre away... Another idiot!

I have been chatting to this online friend on and off for a while and we have never met. Out of a sudden, he sent me an offline message claiming he saw me on the streets on Tuesday. LOL. How often does that happened?!!
Oh talking about that now, I do think I had seen someone on the streets too! Someone who added me on Friendster but well we haven't really talked for a long time. I didn't go up to him obviously... I guess I prefer to leave things online as it is. Cyber friends.
So I asked this friend,"Why didn't you come up to me??" especially when he mentioned he was just walking behind me. He said he wasn't sure that was me, but now he is since he has clearly described what I wore on that day and whom I was with! That's kinda weird when I think of it!! Hahahaa... kinda funny too in a way.
Please feel free to say "Hi" to me if you really "know" me online. I promise not to be arrogant ;)

Creative zen is ill
I suspect my Creative Zen is sick :(((((((( The display colors turned funny, fuzzy, bright and kinda grainy. Fortunately it's still under the warranty, so I shall bring it to the hospital. I'm having VERY BAD LUCK with gadgets these years, I don't think I can buy my DS lite just yet... SAD.
Write it all
Thank God, the meeting ended in less than 2 hours today (Can you believe it, Ridz?), hahahaa. But still I had to continue a discussion within a small group of us on other issues.
It has been over a week since I wrote, feeling a little guilty for not writing and haven't been sparing the time and effort to do so. So, I shall compensate it all tonight! Just like my ironing, I have been delaying for the longest time... *deserve a spank*
After 3 continous nights of alcohol consumption last week and another one night this week, I think I have to try to remain alcohol free for next days. The liver needs some cleansing. I spent Sunday practically just stoning, doing nothing, surfing... just because the days before had been hectic. My sleeping hours are gradually decreasing from 8 to 6 or even 5!!!! HELP!!
